20210815 Qld Broadwater Camping Reserve

Image
20210815 Here we are once again at one of our favorite camps just before Nanango, the Broadwater Camping Reserve at Sandy Ridges has a fresh water creek that's in need of some rain to flush her out but the water is surprisingly very clear, although we often get a strong stagnant smell if the breeze is blowing our way, which soon passes.  There is an abundance of birds, and wild ducks that keep amused as the paddle up and down scavenging for a feed and this time we even got to see a couple of the elegant Black Swans swimming by, then I got a laugh when Des nearly crapped himself after he herd a noise and turned to see a goanna run up a tree. Arr, the serenity when camping in the bush. Des doing what he doe's best, cleaning of cause. We finally got to have a camp over stew and me being the master camp cook sets the work in motion, Des recons I over cooked the pumpkin, it's turned to mush, GO AWAY😒,I said. OMG, just as I thought, I make the best camp stew ever, just ask Mr.

20210814 Qld Durong to Wooroolin

20210814 We decided to take a new route and head to the town of Durong to camp at the free grounds at hall for the night. I'm sure the town has some history but none that I could find, so I walked the street trying to create some of my own history. With just a General store, a Hall and a Bowles Club its hard to believe this town has a population of only 226 and from what I can see they must be spread far and wide. The General Store  opened in 1939 and carries a verity of general items, we were told they make the best Pizzas which would explain all the cars stopping but check out the menu as there's lots to choose from. The old sign of times. The crossroad to a country life. Pioneer's Park where you can sit at the crossroad and watch the traffic go by. Our free camp for the night at the Durong Hall. The Bowles Club, it was the Bottle trees that caught my attention.   20210815 After breaky we head to another yet another tiny country town of   Wooroolin only to find once we ar

20210810 Stopping at Bungewogoria Creek for a few days while trying and kill some time, once again Des is quick to bate his pots and off he goes up and over the hill when I saw a dog run after him, he turns in time and swings his pots at the dog and yells at the girl on the bank to tie her dog up, Well! did she go off. This chick had four pups and four dogs and is living out of her car, I could here her yelling the she swiftly stormed across the grounds heading my way and still yelling, you need to put your husband on a leash, try as I did to calm her down but in the end I told her not so nicely, where to go, Oo it gets better. The next day we collected wood and one of the campers told us we could have the wood beside his van, well that was another mistake, she started yelling at us for taking the wood, once again I try to talk to her but this girl was so angry it was hopeless, one of the pups ran up to me and she started yelling, DON'T touch him, she recons we were being inconside

20210803 We decided to stay a night in Tambo after being told of Ben's Chicken Racing at the Royal Carrangarra Hotel, now that we have to see. At 5pm every afternoon Ben the chook man prepares his girls for the race of the day but first the ladies need to be actioned off so after providing a summary of the girls name and racing form the bids are started at $5 and rising. If you win the bid you are the proud owner of a coloured chicken for the duration of the race, all money raised goes to the Royal Flying Doctors. How hilarious, watching eight chickens all wearing there colors racing around the pen while chasing a remote truck with a bucket of chicken feed to entice them on. Ha Good looking, how about a scan before a beer and a chicken race followed by dinner with some laughs. We had a fun afternoon watching Ben's chicken race while the guest get excited over winning the bid, one couple bid on every chook, starting at $5, she even set up syndicate with a couple in the crowd at
