20240710 Qld Dululu to Lake Victoria.

20240710 On the corner of Burnett and Leichhardt Highway is the town of Dululu, the last time we were here was in 2012 when the old Pub was still standing, unfortunately on the 21 Sept 2015 the Dululu Hotel was gutted after a fire broke out. A new one hotel is in the process of being built, it’s the same style but much more modern. We camper at Dululu campground with hot showers and a great BBQ which we love to take advantage of, but man it shits me when people don’t clean up after themselves.

Aww, he’s a good little chef, he likes his BBQ but only when we’re travelling, he hates cooking on our BBQ at home.🧑‍🍳

It’s called a donation box and it’s at the Dululu Campgrounds, it’s there if you hook up to power and it’s only $10 so please support these little towns who support all travellers passing through. I know for sure they’re in need of a plumber to fix the leaking shower hoses that are covered in a hundred mile tape to try and stop them from leaking in both showers.

Unfortunately the old pub is gone after serving the community and travellers for over 97 years.

We grabbed a beer and walked down the road to check out the new Pub, the gate was open so we walked in and there was a guy painting who let us through for a look. We were told there’s a new silo farm project happening just up the road, hence why all the new rooms and the extra large veranda out the back.

Nine years it’s taken to rebuild and it’s still not completed.

Check out the sexy Barn Doors😁

The painter recons it should be opening in August some time, but I’m not really confident, there’s still a lot of work to be done.

There’s a massive inclosed veranda out the back and many rooms upstairs.

20240711 It’s time to leave and I found a new camp not far from here to a place caller Lake Victoria. Getting there: Take the Burnett Hwy about 50km north from Biloela or 20Km south from Dululu. From the Hwy take Dooneys Rd about 4km till you see the signed gated road to the right. Once through the gate take this road about a 3km out to the lake. I wouldn’t even attempt this track if there’s rain about as it’s black dirt will definitely become boggy and only accessible by 4WD, especially after major rain events.

The road was like this all the way, thank god.

Lake Victoria on Sunset and in the distance are many pelicans swimming up stream.

A Beautiful Camp
