20240606 Qld Bell, Kumbia, Kingaroy, Wooroolin, Ban Ban Springs to Miara

20240606 We left Sue’s and headed into Dalby for supplies then left towards Wandai along the Bunya Highway. Driving through the little town of Bell, stopped at Kumbia, and here we are back in Kingaroy, we came and left, Memerambi onto Wooroolin were once again we have stayed many time and as I was dozing off we decided to camped the night. We did plan on heading to the pub to watch the girls State of Origin but I didn’t feel like drinking so we stayed in. OMG what a game.

Go Queensland

The girls really did us proud as they bounced back in the 2nd series and showed NSW what they were made off.

Lauren Brown's last-minute field goal keeps Women's State of Origin series alive as Maroons win Game II. A 69th-minute field goal to Lauren Brown has delivered Queensland one of their finest wins in Women's State of Origin history with the Maroons downing New South Wales 11-10 in Newcastle.

On 18 February 1901, Miss Fannie Moore opened the doors for the first students to enter classes at the Wooroolin Provisional School, there were 18 students. Wooroolin State School has been established for more than one hundred years and educates students from many parts of the Wooroolin district and beyond.

Who would have thought, Norco in the middle of nowhere.

20240607 Des jumps up and heads to the shower’s trying to bet the other campers before the rush while I stay in the warmth of my bed. After breakfast it’s my turn for a shower, the shower is really good said a woman as she leaves so I undress only to find there’s no hot water, I’m out so I get dressed and return to the van. Back on the road again heading to Ban Ban Springs, 1hr 7 min (98.2 km) via Bunya Hwy/State Route 49 and Burnett Hwy/A3. Des recons his back is stuffed, but we’ve only traveled just over as hour, what the hell, I’d hate to see you on a long trip.

Here we are once again, Des loves camps like this where he takes over the tables with the added bones of a shelter.

In the 2016 census, Ban Ban Springs had a population of 7 people.

20240608 We left Ban-Ban spring headed towards Gin Gin passing Coalstoun Lakes, Biggenden & Dallarnil along the Isis Highway.

It’s a pretty drive with the mountains in the distance and the cattle grazing as we pass but also familiar as we’ve passed this way in past.

Turning off just after Biggenden on the Boonah-Dallarnil Rd and followed the bitumen 33ks to Gin Gin. We walked the town looking for half a loaf of bloody bread, OMG just go to the IGA and buy a whole loaf, Jesus! Now to find a place to wash the front of the van so we stopped at the camp ground just out of town where he did the deed.

The impressive local butcher in Gin Gin

Finally we are on the road and heading to Tony’s in Miara to spend the night and collect some Gin for our trip.

The 124 hectare Sugar Cane property in Bucca was converted to macadamia production.

Turning off at Bullyard on Bucca Rd where we passed the Queensland Nut plantation in Bucca, turned onto Quinns Rd and over the Kolan River.

There’s a fishing paradise upstream in the Kolan River, at the overflow of freshwater from Monduran Dam. In the past floods, Barramundi washed over the dam wall and now inhabit the top freshwater sections of the river. There are days when it is nothing to catch 6-8 Barra in a morning session.

Owners of The Yandaran Hotel are celebrating their first year in business after bringing back “the pub with no beer” from the brink of permanent closure

Sugar Cane inland from Bundaburg

We are about 15ks from Tony’s when some dick head overtook us and the car heading towards us had to run off the road to avoid a head on, the guy on a two way said did you see that clown Jas. Five more K’s to go.

Look Out Tony
