20230406 NSW Tullamore
20230406 Pulling up in the town of Tullamore I look around at many closed shops, then hidden among the discarded shops was a Post Office still operating, so not quite a ghost town yet, and there is the Pub that you can still call into for a cold ale. Tullamore was one of those thriving mining towns that over the years has fluctuated due to the start, and then end, of the mining industry. Tullamore was initially settled as “Bullock Creek”, then renamed “Gobondery” but then in 1895 Jim Tully, whose family came from Tullamore in Ireland, built a hotel and called it “Tullies’ Exchange Hotel”. The Kerley family, also from the Tullamore area in Ireland, settled on a nearby property and called it Tullamore Station. The town obtained its name from this property.
The town of Tullamore where I was quite sick after taking Zinc with vitamin C, feeling much better now so we strolled the town, which didn’t take long at all.
Another one of those mining towns that has seen better days but we have our history as a reminder of the past.
All that’s left are boarded up windows and run down buildings.
This colourful mural is all that remains of what was once a thriving business.
This wiring a bit like Thailands handy work.
Just add some art to this silo and watch this towns come back to life.
This ice machine is no more, I’m thinking it’s probably been broken into a few times and not worth fixing, anyone looking for a cheap ice machine.
Another town with a bright passed and who knows what the future may bring.
Goodbye to Tullamore
