20210616 Qld Proserpine Dam-Peter Forest Dam

20210616 The Dam was completed in 1990, after taking four years to build, and was finished just in time for a massive downpour which promptly filled it. Named after Peter Faust, a former mayor and the patriarch of a family that has farmed in the district since 1895. He was a driving force behind getting the dam built and is also credited with convincing the late Sir Reginald Ansett, who owned Hayman Island, to invest in the development of the Proserpine airport.

We road up to the dam wall to get reception then stopped at the boat ramp on our way home.

Ride off the end so I can get a photo I said, Ya sure stupid.

In the late afternoon we watch the clouds roll in over the mountains and the cows stroll down for a drink, or they were until they were spooked and scatter.
But there's no spooking these noisy guys, they even nearly pecked off one of the campers do, do as we laugh at his mishaps.

I've never seen these sorts of dogs before but they come from China and are called Chow Chow, they are a proud, independent spirit that some describe as catlike. If you’re looking for a cuddle buddy, this probably isn’t the best breed for you they are downright suspicious of strangers but for the right person, they can be very loyal companion although in China they can be quite a delicacy, or so I was told.

They are very cute but with all that fur I in our climate I would think would be all fully hot. Chow Chow dog has a blue tongue because the dog breed has a high level of pigment cells in the tongue, which causes the tongue to turn blue.

Me trying to be creative while walking around the dam.

We sat outside for happy hour watching the Sunset over Proserpine Dam. I was wondering the name of the mountain when Des pops up with: Mt Morgan, ya sure I said, well if Lisa was here, she'd believe me, Ya well she doesn't know you like I do. 😅

The Diver takes time out to dry off his wings and in time puts for me to get a few shots.

We spent three days soaking up the sun while taking in the scenery around the Dam, a jet skier fly's by or a speed boat zooming past with a skyer shown off their skills or the option of just paddling in a kayak while trying to catch a Barra or just cursing the dam, every day is different as we sit back and watch all the movements going on as new vans arrive and others leave for a different adventure.

A NICE RELAXING CAMP
