20210613 Qld The Caves
20210613 Stopping at The Caves for lunch, a small town just off the Bruce Highway that takes its name from The Caves railway station, which in turn was originally called Etna railway station but was renamed by the Queensland Railway in 1914 because of the limestone caves in the area. In 2011 the Caves had a population of 708 but then it grew but ten in in 2016, there's hope for this town yet.
The Cave Pub, a lovely country pub with a great atmosphere and meals.
I wouldn't exactly call it a town with a Pub, a hall and a small store that sells crab sandwich's for $10 so we grabbed an ice cream instead.
With our bellies full we hit the road heading north along the Bruce Highway to Marlborough to camp behind the Road House that provided free camping and hot showers for $5. I'm not one to conplain but when there's no toilet paper and the showers in a bloody mess it's not hard to see these aminities haven't been cleaned in ages. I did some blogging then decided to call Ken my son for a little chat that rolls onto a big chat.
20210614 We are expecting some rain so we head to the small town of St Lawrence when we came upon a truck rool over just after leaving our camp and right on the Little Neerim Creek bridge.
It dosen't look good but I'm pretty sure no one was injured, thank god and we were luck to get through before both lanes were blocked.
That would be the trailers after hitting the side rails but it looks like he managed to rescue his lunch bag and water bottle.
And this is where the main truck ended up on it's side, how lucky was this driver.
Then 15 minutes up the road we came upon this car in the ditch and all on a straight road, get me out of here.
