20201009 Qld Condamine, Moonie to Tara

20201009 Wendy told us about this great camp spot at Condamine so off we go to check it out only as soon as we arrived at Caliguel Lagoon we instantly realised we've been here before, arr well we might as well stay.  There's camps all along the river so we found a spot in the shrub all to our selves and settled in for a few days.

We go in search of wood and then settled in for a night sitting around the fire while I cook a roast dinner in the coals with a nice cold ale to wash it down while blasting out the wild life with my music. In the distance we noticed lighting so Des get out his phone to check the weather, that doesn't look good and you don't want to get stuck here if it rains as this dirt turns to mud in an instance so we began to pack up just in case.

11-09-2020 It was about 1:30am when Des woke me saying we need to get out of here so I was up and packing up as Des puts the van into gear and attempts to drive out and after some slipping and sliding we eventually made it to the bitumen, wow that was close as we drove back to Condamine to sleep the night out, thankfully on solid ground. Des was told to check out the Pub at Moonie and it's collection of feral pig heads so Moonie here we come.

Standing on the corner of the Leichhardt Highway is the Moonie Crossroad Hotel and when we arrived I instantly said we've been here, no we haven't said Des until I found it on my blog, we just drove 100ks out of our way, not happy.

The interior of the Hotel has many displays of art but this one of the Moonie Motel was really cool.

Check out the feral pigs, Noo! not Des, just kidden but its the largest collection in Australia.

We left Moonie for a 72k drive to Tara to camp on solid ground just in case the rain follows us and once again we've stayed here before but at least it has showers and power and it's $10 for three nights, now that's a bargain.

No power. No sewage. No worries, says Tara
There's a small minority group who have chosen to live a certain way after buying blocks of land without realising the expenses associated with establishing a homestead with no water, which explains why there's so many locals who come in droves to use the facility every morning and afternoon.

12-09-2020 The days have been lovely so we walked to town for something to do when I passed a couple buskin in the streets and they sounded pretty good then Des told me they will be playing in this park tomorrow and it free so I was excited to check it out.

They started at 5ish so I grabbed a beer and went to watch, well! after there first song they proceeded to preach about how Jesus saved their life's and the guy story was he got hit by a truck and this light came up from the ground and lifted him up, so on that note I got up and left never to return.

Every year Tara host a kite festival and we were lucky to be here for this one only with no wind they had trouble getting the kites up.

After three days in of chatting to campers we leave Tara and head to Dalby for a night with Sue, her Mum and Richard.
