20190825 Qld Charleville Rock Pool

20190825 About 12ks before Charleville there’s a Rock Pool that was once a quarry and in the summer months a great place to take a dip and cool off but now it’s a great place to camp while sitting around a fire with good friends enjoying and cold ale and what better reason but to catch up with Dick.

We joined Dick for a run into town for supplies and stopped to check out the Tower Mural, featuring the youths of Charleville intertwined through sports, painted in a 3D style around a tall, narrow 30-metre-high tower.
Our camp for the next few days with Dick’s music blasting out the camp and yes, we had to turn it down because it was keeping a baby awake, next time I’m putting up a sign “NO KIDS ALOUD”.
The boys go in search of wood and drags back a large log, now that’s the way to do it Dick.
Sit on the log Dick, so I can get a photo, ya sure that will never happen, spoil sport.

Gee! somebody looks pleased with himself; anyone would think he cooked it, I guess it was his Webber so you can take claim Dick.
We finished the night off sitting around the fire downing many drinks and listening to mostly Des telling tails, because we all know how much Dick talks.๐Ÿ˜

26-08-2019 The nights have been much warmer to Dicks delight; he really doesn’t like the cold the big sook as I wake to my morning herbal tea in bed and a lovely sunny day.

As usual Des likes to keep busy so out comes the yabby pots and off he trots, to try his luck, but then a local came by looking for bait so they made a deal, Des would give him the small ones and he will return with a bucket of large ones for him, well! Des had a grin as big as a
Cheshire Cat.

Camp oven stew for dinner tonight and Dick is keen to experiment with a damper so we split it in half, pored honey over it and placed the other half on top, now to wait till it’s cooked.

O shit, I forgot we halved the recipe so I should have halved the time, get it out Dick.
It sure looks good but it was a bit dry, just a tad over cooked, so I added some syrup, next time we will cook it a bit slower.
With us going through the wood we head out to chop some more, this one says Des.
What are you so pleased about the bloody trunks stuck on the tree and that's just where it stayed, great work Dick.
I found some bush art.
That a much safer way to go Des, at least it can’t fall into a tree.

Another night sitting around the fire enjoying a great camp stew followed by our usual ales, but it getting passed Dicks bed time and retires early with his trusty heater while Des and I soldier on. As usual I cooked way too much stew which is fine it just means we have left overs for dinner tomorrow night.

27-08-2019 Another lovely sunny day in outback Charleville’s Rock Pool where the stars shine bright and the only thing you see are a few scatted fires from the campers in the distance, what more could you ask for.

After breaky Des goes to check his pots and there I was with my camera ready and waiting for Des to slip in the dam, I thinks he’s on to me.
This would be our Dick, shown heaps of interest in Desies big catch as he strolls off with his coffer in hand.

28-08-2019 This will be our last night so I made a pot of mince for jaffles which is always a huge success and the boys go hunting for wood. On there return Des sets up his items ready for tonight’s dinner then we sit back and enjoy the day.

To fill in time Des wanders back and forth hoping for the big catch and although he got a few his catch was nothing like Stonehenge.

The sun set over the Rock Pool.

The jaffles were a great success but once again I made too much, that’s ok we can have it for breaky. After dinner Dick announced he’s going to bed, but it’s only 7 o’clock I said, but then again it has been 4 days of drinking, he hung around a bit longer and Des and I stayed on but we retired early

29-08-2019 Our last day at the Rock Pool and sitting around the fire enjoying the great outdoors but it’s time to move on and Dick has also decided to leave so he was up washing his bus and packing up.

With the car on the trailer now all he has to do is tie it down and hit the road.
Des pulls the last of his pots but there way too small as he throws them all back.
It’s been a great four day but theirs more adventures to be had so we say our goodbyes and head to Wyandra for a new adventure.
