20190602 Qld Lara Wetlands

20190602 We were to leave Lara today to meet Dick at Jericho only he phoned to say he wont be there till tomorrow, Ya! we get to stay one more day. Jo wanted her kitchen cupboards cleaned so that's my job for the day. The deal is when you visit Lara, or I would assume any station, your put to work, but the funny thing is, you get a kick out of it.

Des was put to work on the water truck driving up and down the dirt road keeping the dust down and he loved it, but then the old best spat the dummy and refused to go, find him some more work Jo, you know he needs to be kept busy.
The mare comes running when Jo calls, he knows very well she has a treat for him.
Jo rescued this historical AGA cast iron wood stove from the back yard when the scullery on the back of the Queenslander burnt down. It is said the owner spared no expense and only ever brought the best, this one is valued at around $65,000.
I love this vintage SAXON cast iron stove, I would be interested in how much this beauty is.
This was once a 1924 Hupmobile Jo rescued from the scrap pile down the back and is now part of the museum.
If restored this is what it would look like, it's the perfect example of a car most modern drivers have never heard off. The founder was Robert Craig Hupp, and by 1909 it was building horseless carriages out of a shop in Detroit, Michigan.

Jo found the 1918 book amongst the many tressures of the Queenslander and is now part of the museum tour.

With all our chores done we head to the Thermal Hot Pool and OMG, this is just amazing, I can't believe this is our first time in here, but you sure do need to have a cold beer on hand to cool off.
I'm sitting where the Artesian water springs from, and it is really hot so harry up Des and take the bloody photo.

Des doesn't want a late night as we leave tomorrow so we head home to cook dinner and a few more goodbye drinks, but I don't want to leave.😒 Des is off to bed early so Jo and I downed a few more drink before the night end.

02-06-2019 All packed and ready to leave as I walk around with a sad face taken some last minute photos before saying goodbye to our mate of the land once again.

Driving out of Lara where the cattle roam free.
Des dropped a hint to Ross about grading the road before he leaves and sure enough there he was, isn't he a good guy.
The old Massey Ferguson may have a few leaks but she's hardy and keeps on going, maybe if he gets a taste of it he might stay.
Any body would think they've known each other for years but that's what Lara's about, making new memories with new friends.

I'm sitting in the van at Baralaba Show grounds when I decided to google Lara Wetland and I clicked on this link, and OMG, with tears running down my face I watched in amazement as Jodie and friends tell her story of the struggles of this rural outback woman. It just highlights just how special this lady really is and I’m so proud to have her as our friend, you are one of the toughest women I have the privilege of known and I know Michelle would be proud of what you have accomplished as we all are.
