20190612 Qld Bucca, Woodgate to Hervey Bay

20190612 Heading to Gin Gin we stop for bread when I heard a strange noise coming from under the van and Des recons it was the truck going down in gears, then he said it was my computer so I let it go. Ya! we're going to Bucca to camp behind the Bucca Hotel where my sister and I camped once and had a ball, so I'm a tad excited.

Des found this message in the men’s loo and was so intrigued he was even happy for me to take a photo.
The Bucca Hotel is one of those landmarks in Bundaberg that’s a must to visit, established in 1897 this 120-year-old Pub sits on the Kolan River and is what country pubs are all about.
I want one, this hand carved XXXX man stands in the Bucca for all to see.
Pool night tonight only I didn’t want to put the guys to shame so I opted to watch and drink.

13-06-2019 We only stayed the night at the Bucca and as we have never been to Woodgate, so why we not check it out.

Woodgate is one of those beaches, that so far hasn’t been inundated with high-rises, it was changed from a casual holiday spot to a town in the 1970s and sits on a 16km sandy beach about 30 minutes from Childers.

On the wall in the Pub at Woodgate was this crocodile display and of cause its an authorised process and quite a large paw.

After lunch at the only Hotel in town we head back to Childers to camp the night when I herd that same noise again and when we checked it out one of the brackets had come loose and was sparking out on the terminals causing the bracket to flare and short out, shit that was close the van could have burnt down, maybe next time someone will listen to me.

14-06-2019 Today we head to Hervey Bay to catch up with our dear friends Margie and Bocco for a couple of days but first we stop at Dan Murphy’s to restock our supplies, our Margie certainly enjoys a wine or three just like me.

Margie gave me a quick lesson on mosaic, not bad if I do say so.

15-06-2019 We had a great couple of days catching up over many wines, beers and much laughter as we do. Des was cooking breakfast when he noticed the battery gage at 19 amps instead of 15, as we rush out to check the batteries that were boiling, O shit so we had no power and couldn’t pump water or use the toilet, luckily, we found an auto electrician and it turned out the regulator had shorted out, so $160 later we were on our way, thank god.

16-06-2019 We can now enjoy our stay at Karen and Crosies with the added bones of a visit from Dave Jenner who we ended up talking into staying the night, so once again, copious amounts of alcohol was consumed as we sat around a nice cosy fire enjoying the cool night.

Off we go to try our luck at bait fishing and mind you Des and I have never done this so be gentle on us you pair.
With the tide still coming in we try our luck.
A successful afternoon catching bait fish and poor Des got lumbered with carrying them, he was struggling until Karen said, give me one of them Poppy, and just as we walked past some guys and embarrassed him, don't you ever speak to me like that again, said Des as we all peed our self laughing.
Urangan Pier at Hervey Bay
Built between 1913 and 1917, and was originally it was 1107 metres in length but the pier was closed in 1985 and 239 metres of it was demolished so their is now 868 metres of the pier left which is still a bloody long jetty.

THE END OF ANOTHER GREAT TRIP
