20190505 NSW Temora
20190505 We were told Temora was a nice town but after we did our usual walk, I for one was disappointed, although the town was clean it just had no appeal but if you're keen on aviation theirs a museum that's apparently worth a look and an air show occurs regularly where you could get to see the historic plains take to the sky. The town has one of the state's largest inland grain storage terminals and is known as a centre for harness racing.
Boofhead the Wondering Dog
Boofhead became legendary in Temora for his love of the steam engines. In 1959 this little fox terror first appeared at the railway station and soon became known as Temora's railway dog. He was a free dog hitching train rides across the region returning back to Temora.
A bronze statue now stands at the station in memory of the cheeky little foxie
In 1969 a colt named Paleface Adios was born on a property in Temora and later became the Phar Lap of harness racing over an eight year career that ended in 1980.
He became known as the
"Temora Tornado"
A popular T-28D Trojan was tracked back to its manufactures under a U.S. Air Force contract in the early 1950s.
The old flour mill was built in 1908 then export decline and the milling industry consolidated to larger sites with the mill closing in 1973, it's such a waste of these lovely old buildings.
Roman Catholic Church
This amazing church was built in 1907 and unfortunately the doors are always locked and I couldn't get inside to check it out.
Walking the streets when I spotted this sign, so appropriate after the church photo.

Hundreds of Corella's flying over Temora, spot the lost Galah amongst them.
