20199525 Qld Lara Wetlands Bush Camping

20199525 If you’re looking for that special camp, where the wildlife roam free and peace and tranquillity is everyone’s dream and where there’s lot’s for kids to learn and experience, either sitting around a fire, toasting marshmallows or swimming in the Artesian Pool is an amazing experience. Theirs a playground, or kayak through the wetlands or just take a stroll or bicycle ride through the tracks, no matter what, you will be sure to return to this amazing camp in the bush.

Seven years ago, this was just a dream, off the
Landsborough Hwy,
the sign
“Lara Wetlands Bush Camping” stands tall at the entrance to a camper’s wonder.
Michael’s Way” is in memory to a special person in Jo’s life at the time who lost his life in a helicopter accident in 2014. The road leading into Lara may be bull dust but due to the continuous grading the road is smoother than most of the bitumen roads we’ve been on.
Des and I are gob smacked, this place is truly a camper’s paradise, I look back 7 years when it was just wetland and a dream of becoming a bush camp, but to see it now is nothing short of a miracle, our friend’s dream, is now a reality.
Scatted around the camp grounds are those quirky objects to take your interest, like this extra-large camp chair, sit and take a photo but don't forget to leave a gold coin donation for it goes to a worthy cause,
The Royal Flying Doctors.
Check out the dunny built for two and leave a comment if you please but don't forget to wipe your bum before you leave.
When your cartridge is full to the brim, wonder the grounds looking for a dump Point with a difference and dump it in.
When looking for a camp with a difference, look no more, book out this container for the weekend, with all your bedding and cooking needs provided, just bring your food and cook up a fest. Sit around a campfire, there’s heaps of wood around, either cut your own or buy a cart and fill to the brim.
Step through to Lara’s Hot Spot, but be sure, be sure, no glass or pets past this hot spot.
Grab a wine or a beer and stroll to the Thermal Pool for a refreshing hot swim while chatting to the many camper's and making new friends.
The camp kitchen is for all to use so please be considerate and keep it clean.
Now this is Jo, she may look petite but she’s the owner who is always working the beat, so if she mowing just leave her in piece, for she’s only trying to keep things net.
Be sure to take a tour of this amazing 1912 Historical Homestead, Jo has uncovered many interesting stores that will take you back in time, followed by a cuppa and some yummy scones and cream.
A tour group sit on the logs as there tour guide, Lyn tell the many tales behind the history of Lara Station.
Jo tell an interesting tale of the unopened safe from when she first moved in and the discovery of what laid behind the close door.
Before leaving there's one more bit of the tour to be seen as you walk to the museum to view relics of a past left behind.
As the sun sets on the wetlands and the birds go to sleep the campers sit around their fires having a couple of drinks to complete there day.
