20190519 NSW Albert

20190519 Ya! We're on our way to our favourite country pub and hopefully catch up with Allen, one of the locals we meet the first time we landed at the Rabbit Trap Hotel in 2012, but first we need to travel through some old country towns. First up was Fifield where I manage a fly by shot of the Fifield Hotel and St Dymphna Church, I’ve never herd of that one before, then onto Tullamore another town with an old 1919 Hotel still standing and in good use.

Arriving at Albert we parked up opposite the Rabbit Trap Hotel and settle in while waiting for the afternoon to roll on hoping to surprise our old friend Allen who we had meet on our first visit to this quant town.

Albert has taken on a new meaning since the rabbit trap (which was four years in the making) is finally completed and mounted on the roof. New support poles were inserted to hold the,  around one tone trap which was made by one of the locals.

I don’t usually write a blog if we’ve already been to a town but every visit to the Rabbit Trap is different from the last and just as exciting.

The time has come as we wander to the pub, we order a drink when Des turned to a guy and asked if he knew a guy named Allen, what’s his last name he said? we don’t know but he always sits in that corner and bugger me dead who walks around the corner but the man himself. I only wish I had a camera at the time because Allen’s jaw dropped open as I walk over and give him a big hug.

Allen usually only stays till about 6-30 but he managed to drag his time out only when he decides to leave he couldn’t find his keys. After the girls scrummaged through all the bins Allen knocked on our door hoping we picked them up, anyway to cut a long story short they were found on top of his car with his wallet, no more drinks for you Al.

10-05-2019 Its Friday night so we’re expecting a few more locals to hit the pub but in these small country towns you just take it as it comes. Allen was to arrive at his usual time and after lazing in bed blogging and napping all day I got ready for a night on the town, so to speak.

How great was it to catch with our old friend Allen, we partied with him on our first trip in 2012 and the memories are still very fresh, now it’s time to make more memories.

Des in his element with the barmaids M and Sophie from London, if only I was younger thinks Des, Ya sure, in your dreams Des.

But anyway eat your heart boys.
Another beer please girls and keep them coming.
As the night rolled on and the drinks flowed, more locals arrived and the louder the music got so did we.
Al has known Michelle since she was knee high to a grass hopper and she has nothing but very fond memories of their times together where I have only known him 7 years and am just scrapping the barrel.

It’s now 10.27pm and Al is still standing and we even managed and little dance.

With the music pumping so were the locals as we cut a rug tearing up the floor at the Rabbit Trap Hotel while having the time of our lives, ya got ta love country pubs.

11-05-2019 Well I have no idea what time we got home or what time Al left, all I know is we had the best time ever. I danced with many locals, Michelle and I along with many other sang many a tunes and even Des got up for a dance.

Des talking with Dan the Chef who was also nursing a bit of a sour head.
By the way thanks for a great meal last night Dan.
