20190410 Qld Maryvale, Emmaville to Guyra

20190410 Well it’s that time of the year again, traveling parts of Australia and creating more memories, but the big question is where to go?? Our first Aussie travel was in about 2015 and what an adventure it's been, so let's see if we can seek out some lovely camp sites and visit different towns in this big country of ours, but first we need to fill our bellies so we stop at Aratula hotel, well I enjoyed my lunch but Des wasn't impressed with his processed chicken burger, I'm guessing we won't be back.
Now for the slow trip over the Great Dividing Range while taking in the scenery with my trusty camera beside me waiting for that special shot.  We tend to pull up early these day as long drives makes us oldies a bit weary so we turned off to Maryvale stopping at the pub for a cold beer before setting up camp in the park down the road.  We just got set up and about to open a beer when Des realised he left his glasses at the pub so we packed up and drive back and sure enough there they were, surprise! surprise.

Although there's very little to see in Maryvale this town seems to be going ahead, it's a quiet town not fare out of Brisbane with a lovely free camp spot and it's walking distance to the pub or, you can camp behind the Hotel and it's also free, a great escape to relax for a weekend.

11-04-2019 Arr! Desies morning ritual, put on the kettles, make me my morning cup of herb tea in bed then prepares breakfast before we pack up, he's such a good boy.

This Mountain came into view so I grab my camera but for the life of me I can't find the name of it, so help me out here Bruce ๐Ÿ˜•

Passing the sign to Deepwater, Glenn Innis as we head to Emmaville to check it out for a potential ride for the boys but the roads a bit rough, so much for our better roads.

"Emmaville The Fossickers Way" was a thriving mining town in the 1800's but unfortunately it's another one of those dying mining towns with nothing more than a general store a pub and a mining museum, which  apparently has an impressive collection of 27 types of gemstones, including Emeralds and Topaz.
I stole the photo from the Emmaville site, and they certainly do get lots of bikes out here and the good news is they will put on a seafood lunch if given plenty of notice.

Thanks to Facebook we found out Guy and Dawn are doing a three-month trip around Australia so we managed a meeting place for the night at Guyra, camping at “Mother Ducks Lagoon” and it was bloody freezing. Dawn showed me their itinerary having every day mapped out right down to the last day, well done Dawn.

Mother Ducks Lagoon is surrounded by a golf course so look out for those flying balls.

12-04-2019 The wind has dropped and it's a nice sunny day, we had a great night chatting away over a few drinks as usual, except Guy, whom to our surprise was drinking coffee but don't worry he made up for it in other ways, Ha! Ha.

Up and at it guys we have places to see and memories to make no time for standing around chatting, and by the way Des where's my cuppa ๐Ÿ˜’

Dawn with a cool painted rock, I want one for my garden.

One last photo for the blog before we say our good buys, have fun and enjoy our beautiful country.

The town of Guyra has a reputation for coldness and snow, and is the coldest, northernmost town in the country, now why does that not surprise me.

The sculpture of a Sheep with Potatoes represents the surrounding wool, beef, potato and fat lamb producers of the area.

Yaa! my first blog done and dusted.
