20180302 NSW Brisie to Werris Creek
20180302 Off we head once again
on one of our wild adventures, well! Maybe not so wild but an adventure never
the less. The vans all restocked, our new spiffy motorised pushes are sitting
nicely on the new spiffy bike rack thanks to the fabulous welding skills of our
friend Gav from JAG Engineering and my home made lasagna is all prepared for our
first night on the road followed by a cup of tea with some of my home made
bickies, HA! what a joke, more like a couple of wine. The first part of our journey was tracking
over old grounds stopping on the outskirts of Tenterfield for some lunch.
On The Road Again
Now lets see who's gonna kill who first.
I spotted this under a bridge on the outskirts of Tenterfield, gee I
thought it was a tad funny.
Onto Glenn Innes for the night
where we were greeted by a fellow camper who guided us in the right direction,
apparently the caretaker is hopeless, have to take the fee to him he told Des, ya
sure! now that was the wrong thing to tell Des, as if that’s gunna happen, he,
he.
Once camped up I was just about to
make a cuppa with one of my nice bickies when bloody Des pulls out a bottle of
Smirnoff each, well! We all know where this is heading. We sat under the stadium and watched the mist
roll in from the mountains until it got too cold for the big sook, mind you I
did have a winter’s dressing gown on.
03-03-2018 We woke to a cloud day
but had a great sleep thanks to a couple of bottles of Red then Des made breaky,
as he should, we showered and left, bugger still no caretaker. We passed through Guyra and Uralla onto
Moonbi only because I googled things to see and the lookout just off the New
England Highway was worth a look.
A Fly by shoots
along the way on a cloudy day of the old tractor, that's clever recycling and effective.
But the main reason I choose here was to check out Gravity Hill where there’s a point between southbound and northbound lanes where water and your car appears to run up hill but I’m buggered if we could find it.
“The Big Chicken”
Erected in recognition of this industry, not what we expected but it is a chicken.
Moonbi village is renowned as the centre for the poultry industry with its many large poultry farms located in the area.

Werris Creek looks like an interesting town so we stopped and of course it’s Saturday and everything’s closed in these small country towns except the pub, that suites me, a nice cold beer please.
Many
towns own their existence to the railway but no town has a greater claim than Werris
Creek which came into existence in 1877, when 500 railway workers descended on this area & built the line from Murrurundi to Tamworth. The towns
continued existence was assured when the decision to build a junction at Werris
Creek, now a proud and historic railway town.

Described as a remarkable building that could easily grace a city.
After a bum steer we managed to
find the correct road to Primer when once again we came across the rovers, still
roving the country plans and you won’t believe it they sit in their cars or on
horses watching the cattle all day, just so we can have meat, stuff that.
We travel through Spring Ridge
with only a couple of houses onto Primer, we’ve been here I said, no we haven’t
said Des, yes we have we sat around a small fire with an older lady for a
couple of days and you collected wood for her, arr that’s right we did he said
and you thought you were taking me somewhere different.
In closing I would like to say with a heavy heart farewell to a dear friend who we lost to a motor cycle accident. Darrel was a wonderful funny, and charming person and we will miss him dearly.
CHEERS DEAR MATE
