20160514 NSW Eugowra, Molong to Wellington

20160514 We passed through Eugowra, Cudal and onto Molong, a thriving town with plenty of old-world charm and the main street is National Trust-classified with many fine heritage buildings from the 1800s.

15-05-2016 We camped up the road in a rest area for the night then after breaky headed to Wellington.  John Oxley was the first to visit Wellington area, he climbed Mt Arthur and gazed down upon what he named the Wellington Valley, which he named after the Duke of Wellington.

Wellington Gateway Sculpture was made from girders of the old Wellington Bridge which collapsed in 1989, its form was based on the shape of a seed pod.
Flower Pod on the sculpture symbolises the region’s fertility, and is appropriately decorated with flowers, seed pods, leaves and grasses worked in metal and glass, representing the fertility of the valley and the future potential of the town.
A mosaic illustrating local history in the Wall and encircling the pool are the words: “Wirrum-wirrum ngina omeo warra ay bila-bila nyn” meaning, Here mountains stand, rivers join.
The town’s distinctive winding Main Street.

This grand old monument in Cameron Park is dedicated to the fallen stands in the park.
The Swinging Bridge over the Latrobe River is the oldest surviving swing bridge in Australia being constructed in 1880-1883 and is regarded as one of the engineering wonders of Gippsland.
