20160426 Vic Boolarra to Trafalgar

20160426 After leaving Phillip Island we traveled along the coast to Inverloch then inland stopping at Mirboo North to refuel then continued onto Boolarra where we were told of a camp spot called Primrose Park.  Once we found the park we were the only ones there so we camped in the middle of the grounds and stay for a couple of days.

The coast view from Phillip Island onto Wonthaggi turning inland at Inverloch.
Our camp at Boolarra and we had it all to ourselves.
I’ve never known anyone like him, Des is always cleaning his feet, he just can’t stand dirty feet, he’s such a girl.

27-04-2016 In Tassie the trips were much shorter, some days we only traveled 25ks and we finally figured out that’s why our batteries weren’t charging up, where on the main land we are doing 2 to 300ks, which makes it difficult to stay on top of my blog, so while Des caught up on the washing and collected wood I blogged, bargain.

We make the most of the fire cooking jaffles for dinner with our music blasting and drinking, now that's different. The music must have been loud as we saw the neighbors walk down to check out the ruckus and when they saw it was two old people sitting around a fire they turned and left, surprised as it was the only house around for miles.

28-04-2016 Unfortunately we have to leave this lovely quite spot and as I had picked up a brochure on the Trafalgar Holden Museum which sounds interesting so off we go to check it out.

As we cruise over the hill in Thorpdale this grand old Travellers Rest Hotel with its beautiful back drop really dominates the town.

The Holden Museum Trafalgar

Henry James Holden took over his father’s business after his death in 1887 setting Holden on the path to becoming one of Australia’s leading car manufactures.

The rustic look sets the seen as we enter the Holden Museum, a mia $7.50 each, bargain.

I can’t help but boost about this car it just takes your breath away, the Holden Efijy is a concept car created in Australia by Holden.  It pays tribute to the Holden FJ, the second model built by Holden.

Wow! As we entered the main pavilion this Holden Efijy, on loan to the museum took me by surprise.  The owner was offered $40 mill and knocked it back then he was offered an open check, which he also knocked back.

My dream car use to be a Mustang but I think I just changed my mind.
It rides on air suspension system that lowers the car when stopped, and also has electronic instrumentation including a multi-use display screen that disappears into the dash.
The concept is based on the Chevrolet Corvette floor pan, a 6.0 ltr V8 engine with Roots supercharger putting out 480 kW (644 hp) at a little shy of 6500 r.p.m.
I would have to say some of the best cars ever built, such an icon in Australian history.
This 1953 FJ Special Station Wagon Cordell Conversion, converted from sedan in the early 50’s, this vehicle has undergone a full restoration and is one of three known to exist.
Who could forget the good old Holden Red Motor and how easy were they to work on.  These beauties were in services from the EH to VB Commodore, 1964-79
The Holden Premier HK and HT another classic of its time.
Let’s not forget these classic cars which played a big part in getting the motor industry up and running.
The Greenfell Street Adelaide building remained the headquarters of the Holden enterprise for more than 40 years and the life size white horse stood over the main entrance was a landmark for the Adelaide citizens.

Long before the FX came the first series Holden, the peddle cart. Since their inception in the late 1890s, pedal cars have been one of the most popular children’s toys. Ranging from homemade go carts to high-performance automobiles and trucks. They reached the height of their pre-World War II popularity in the late 1920s & 30s.

A model of the 200 W class trams built by Holden’s Motor Body Builders Ltd (HMBB) from 1923 to 1926. They could seat 52 passengers with room for 93 people standing.

I couldn’t leave out the good old Victor Mower, Des recons it was nicked named the toe cutter due to it being so high of the ground and no safety cover.
Can I Have One Please Sir
