20160213 Tas Penguin

20160213 Penguin is a lovely seaside town named from a nearby penguin rookery and who takes pride in their town with pretty display of flowers lining the streets. We walked the streets taking in the sites of this lovely town.

The 3.15m Penguin stands on the waterfront and is apparently the largest in the world.
I know churches can be a bit boring but check this one out I found the Gothic style church which opened in 1903 is just amazing and stands as a landmark over Penguin.
The Windmill is a replica presented to the people of Penguin to commemorate the Dutch explorers.
Penguin design rubbish bins scatted through the streets adds that extra bit of character for the town.

We camped just out of town on the waterfront and set up camp, putting out the awning, setting up the gas stove and table then we and sat back to relax until the wind turned ruthless bringing with it smoke from the Tassie fires.

It didn’t take long for the smoke to descend on us and all the other campers causing everyone to hide in their vans.

14-02-2016  Every Sunday the town holds an undercover market so after breakie we  checked it out and brought a dozed free ranged eggs before leaving, Des isn’t the most exciting person to go to the market with, this is when I miss the girls.

Farewell to Lovely Penguin
