20151031 NSW Collarenebri

20151031  We stop at each town mainly to stretch our legs, these towns may have had and colorful history but now appear to be on the verge of ghost’s towns.  I wonder how they keep surviving as most of them only have a pub and a small store, hence why I am always posting bloody pubs on my blog.

Stopping at Brewarrina and guess what all that's here is another pub but what a grand old pub she is.
Not only was Brewarrina a meeting ground for over 5,000 people but it is also known for its Aboriginal Stone Fisheries which at 40,000 years old, may be the oldest man-made structure on the planet.  In 1849 the Hospital Creek Massacre occurred as many as 400 Aboriginals died.

We drove onto Collarenebri, meaning place of flowers and camped up for a couple of days in the free camp site with hot showers provided and all the town as is that you buy a drink or have a meal to help the town survive.

Barwon River, Des and I walked the town and the pub was shut but we managed to find a club where only burgers were on the menu when a locals asked us what we would like, she returned soon after pleased to accommodate our wishes.
The new Keno machines in N.S.W, replacing the personal services, just touch and go, just another item doing people out of jobs.
And the water tank welcomes the traveler to there town.
With full bellies we left to walk the town, when passing the pub we herd a voice yelling out, 'come in we have cold beer' so of cause we did.
The sculptures of the predators were made out of recycled vehicle and engine pieces the one on the left stands almost seven feet (2.13 metres) in height.  The Predators were made in Indonesia and have been well received at the Tattersalls Hotel.

A very friendly pub and the locals are keen for a yarn and the decor makes for an interesting tete-a-tete.

The pub walls tell a story with all the memorabilia but this caught my attention, this was taken at the 2012 floods, a great shoot.

And check this shoot out, the animal the Eagle has captured is a young fox, so I was told, cool photo.
Out the back they have one of the locals to entertain you and trust me he was very entertaining, Des and I couldn't decide if he was pissed or stoned but it was funny trying to understand him.
Love the old trucks in the paddock it certainly makes for a great photo.

Heading to our next destination and we come across these cattle which Des said he read about the drovers who have been on the road for two month droving there cows around the country for feed.  I should have been a country girl how much fun would that be.

We drive on a little and spotted the drovers camped up in the bush, I so wanted to join them.

02-11-2015  We camping at Boomi for the night and found power behind the amenities so we could crank up the air-con but I did walk the grounds and picked up shit loads of empty bottles and cans laying about the grounds.

03-11-2015  We head to Talwood  for a couple of day so Des can get his yabbie fix, over the last six months he's tried in numerous places and has had no luck but we know Talwood has heaps.

We decide to dress up for the Melbourne Cup and head the the Talwood Hotel for a few drink and watch the game and Des said you look really look nice Lee, then I down loaded the photo and said I look like a fat f--k Des, good on ya.
History was made on this day as Michelle Payne crossed the finish line riding Prince of Panzance and became the first female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup, I had tears of joy for Michelle and brother Stevie Payne the strapper, awesome win.
