20150916 WA Wave Rock

20150916 We have had mixed feelings about going to Wave Rock after many travelers have told us, it's  just a rock, but it is more than JUST a rock if you ask me and I am so glad we came. Wave Rock a granite cliff and it's rounded like shape has been caused by weathering and water erosion.  Tiny lichens, mosses and algae produce the orange and black stains that brighten the face of the rock.

Well it’s a bloody cool rock if you ask me.

The formation of this amazing rock, very interesting.

The walk to the top is relatively easy and once at the top you score a pretty good view of the valley below.

We couldn’t work out why there is a manmade wall around the Rock then I was reading Wave Rock is used as a catchment to collect drinking water for Hyden.

Same rock different shot.

Interesting, this is where the little rocks live.
In some parts of the park the rocks look as though they are slipping down the rock face and really doesn't  look safe.

very good portrayal of this rock as it’s called “Hippos Yawn” very apt.

Wave Rock wildflower shop with it's amazing arrangement of dried flowers & this one, shaped like a butterfly mounted from the ceiling, & they have the best sausage rolls I have ever had.

Captured the old bridge before we leave the Wave Rock, loved it.
