20150907 WA The Vally of the Giant Trees

20150907 The Valley of the Giants, beneath the canopy, more than 70% of sunlight is filtered out never to reach the forest floor and most of the forest animals are nocturnal.

Here we stand at the highest point of the Tree Top Walk, 40 meters above ground level were the Red Tingle Tree still towers above you.

Quenda
Quokka

The Quenda and Quokka forage at night on the forest floor and at first I thought they look like rats but their quite cute.

Grandma Tingle, this matriarch of the forest measures more than 12m in circumference and is estimated to be over 400 years old.  The description reads: The burls and gnarled bark of the distinctive red tingle tree is an almost human character – a female, grandmotherly character.  It’s almost as if she is watching over forest, observing those who enter it.  Now there's a burl to make a seat out of Crosie.

Although this tree is burnt out she still grown and has many new shoots sprouting from her limbs.

Perry Beach is on William Bay about 28ks from Denmark and we were lucky the weather was good so I grabbed my book and lapped up the sun.

I sat near a pools of water and as I glanced down I noticed these weird creatures frolicking in the water and I have no idea what they are but they look kind of prehistoric.

08-09-2015  Today just happened to be my first grandsons 16th birthday which has special meaning to me as he was my first grandchild so I put together a slide show on face book with some special words.
