20150818 WA Fremantle with Nobby and Rose

20150818  After leaving Waldo’s  we travelling a mere 30 to 40 ks to catch up with another old mate “Nobby” for a couple of days where we were greeted with another warm welcome.  We have been very fortunate catching up with these guys as some of them work in the mines and have been home on leave.  After a chat and a cuppa Nobby took Des and I site seeing through Mandurah, Fremantle and around the docks.

The last time was 1989 since these pair last seen have each other so they are making up for lost time.
Nobby said he had a boat that was named after Des, it was called "tax dodge", well we pissed out laughing.

A bloody clown is our Nobby, that's his photo pose.

Here's one for you Scotty, did you know what ford stands for:fix or repair daily and found on rubbish dump, he!he.

This interesting sculpture stands at the end of a walk and off from that stands a row of jetty's, I can only imagine for the keen fishers.

I tried to get Des to sit on this chair for a photo but he wouldn’t have a bar of it, she’s always trying to make a fool of me Nobby, no I’m not, he!he.

Well this was where it all happened at the Royal Perth Yacht Club when we won the 1983 Americas Cup, I would have loved to have been in Fremantle then, O! the excitement.

This unusual sculpture stands at the front of a fish and Chip shop, different I know.

Ge, it’s been such an exhausting day we just have to stop in for a drink at the Sail Anchor a lovely old hotel which was constructed in 1901-1903.

Off cause they had to get a window so they could have a good perve, the old deviates.

Container Ships line the wharf waiting to be unloaded, they are 16 wide and can go up to 5 or more in height.

The Leeuwin Ocean Adventure is a not-for-profit organisation that challenges and inspires young people ages 14-25 to realise there personal potential and make a positive contribution to the wider community, now that I would find exciting.

I couldn’t resist chatting with this Mum on this cool bike, the bike is sola operated and cost up to $1000 which by today’s standards isn’t that bad.  That’s what you need Sharyn only in a three seater.

Fremantle is full of history with its grand old buildings adding so much character to the area with most buildings only three stores high.

Once home we sat back and enjoyed a few wines while Nobby cooked a roast then we waited for Rose, to arrive home from work.

19-08-2015  Just before lunch Nobby took us for a trip to the old Ravenswood Hotel on the Murray River for lunch where they get many bikes on the weekend.  Built in 1953 the hotel originally began as a wheat farm in 1833.

What are those pair up to probably putting shit on me known Des, nevertheless we enjoyed a lovely steak lunch and washed it down with a couple of drinks.

Nobby has left the building, thank you, thank you, thank you, see I told you he was a clown.

Nobby and Rose cooked up a feast consisting of a three course meal, sort of.
1st Course - Mild Chilly dipping sauce with lobster
2nd Course - Ginger and Garlic with a touch of mild chilly and lobster
3rd Course - Curry Prawns and Rice
Followed by a wines of your selection, gee, what can we say, all three dishes were exquisite, we’ll be back!
Check out these beauties which Nobby caught but unfortunately not on our visit.

20-08-2015 We were supposed to leave only Nobby said it was time he took Rose out to dinner and we had to join them so of cause we ended up staying another night.

Nobby and Rose invited there friends and we all enjoyed a lovely steak at Outback Jacks with a couple of drinks to wash it down.

21-08-2015 Des coughed all bloody night and as the next day was raining so we ended up staying hoping the rain would clear the next day.  Out to dinner again but Des was to sick so we stayed home but Nobby and Rose delivered what was left over so I pigged out on it while Des slept, and it was yummy.

22-08-2015 Nobby had been raving about the king whiting which we were dying to try so we just had to stay another day as whiting was on the menu for lunch.

Chef Nobby in a sexy apron and he is in his element in the kitchen, this guy really knows how to cook, we will never get out of here at this rate.

Off to the Fremantle Markets which is housed in the Victorian-ere building dated 1980 and the markets have been running for over a hundred years, wow.

 99% Polenta Corn and
ice-cream, now that's different.

These are different
it's a chip hot dog.

Walking around the market can be thirsty work so off to the sail anchor to quench our thirst, knobby shouted first, then it was Desie's turn and he nearly had a strock as he reached for his money, well! we all cracked up laughing and even the bar maid looked twice at him.  After waiting for ages to try to get served we left for another hotel with better services.

Dinner look good but were not staying, but it was drinks all round for Des who thought he got away with paying, no such luck Des you pay as you leave, he! he.

Nobby and I clowning around as I set up the try pod for a few shoots.
With full bellies we then enjoyed a few wines and a good old chin wag.

Today is the day we are definitely leaving there is no stopping us this time Nobby but we would like to thank you for a great time, great food, shown us around your lovely town and great company, hopefully we will see you one day in Brisbane.
