20141011 Qld Maidenwell to Linville

20141011 We arrived at Maidenwell only to find out caravans are not allowed down to the Coomba Water Hole, bugger but I can’t imagine why.  We cooked on the BBQ supplied and once again had to clean it first, some people are so lazy. Sitting in the van blogging and getting board, let’s go to the pub Des, do you want to, yep so off we toddle.  We meet Ken who camped beside us so we sat talking to him when Des saw Ted one of the bar guys he gave shit to when on a bike ride and they stayed the night.

The King Hotel across the road from the camp area, much to handy.
Do you remember me said Des, ye I think so but I don’t think he was real sure then Des introduced himself and they shook hands.  I'm the one who gave you shit about being so slow serving drinks and Ted just laughs but he was quick witted and gave as much back.

This is it for the town one multi purpose shop and cafe with the Pub across the road, what more do you need.

The sean as you drive down the 2km road to Coomba Water Hole I have never seen so many Black Boys.

Now for the walk down 90 steps to get to the Water Hole, and I hate steps but these were well built and easy to walk.

Check this out what an amazing place the hike down was worth every step, I could stay here for ever.  There is water running down the rock so we are thinking there is an underground stream up further.

This is the exact place we have been look for to camp next to for a week and you can’t get a car down here, bummer.

Time to leave, we are now on our way to Linville to free camp for the night on an old railway line with free power, more like were delaying going home.  With just a population of 110 this lovely town is surrounded by mountains and has just one multi purpose shop and the most important of all a Pub.

The free camp grounds are set up by the locals to try and entice campers to the area and hopefully spend some money.

I really liked this town with the Linville Hotel being the center piece and the Mountains as a back drop.

I needed a walk and was lucky enough to find this old burnt out truck along the track just as the sun was going down.
