20121221 VIC Greensborough Lynn & Dawn

20121221 We decided to head to Greensborough to catch up with Lynn and Dawn whom we had only meet twice and were kind enough to ask us to visit them before leaving Melbourne, why not we thought.  I entered their address into the Nav and off we went, what a calamity, I haven’t heard one person say one good thing about these bloody Navs. First it took us in a totally different direction then it took us through the middle of the main shopping center of Greensborough instead of directly up the highway, but eventually we arrived in one piece and was warmly greeted by our newly found friends.

The girls organized a lovely BBQ with Des being the cook with a threat from Dawn not to burn the meat or else. Lyn's house was decorated in many lovely Xmas ornaments complemented with the large Xmas tree in the corner of the lounge.

20121222 We had a great night chatting about our many adventures and exchanging camping locations, we could have stayed for ever talking.  Des and I had a hard time dragging ourselves away but as they say all good things must come to an end.

Lyn and Dawn showing Des some great locations to visit.

This is Lyn's map of Australia mounted on a canvas board and marked out in different colours of each trip they have achieved and mastered.  Check out that smug look on Dawns face.

Dawn was in search of an SLR so I brought out my cameras and different len for her to have a play when I captured this shot in Lyn's garden.

Before leaving I managed to snap a photo of the girls beside their camper, for my blogg I told them.
With directions from the girls we found our way out much easier than when we arrived and headed for the Black Spur.
Thanks Lyn and Dawn for a wonderful night and hopefully we can catch up when you come to Brisbane.

Botanist Daniel Bunce’s 1840s foray into the Dandenong Range marked the first European expedition.  Wholesale clearing began in the 1850s when the settlers moved in, before the state forest was established in 1867.

The Black Spur
Winding up the Great Dividing Range through the Black Spur boarded by massive mountain ash trees and the sunlight filtering through to the many green ferns below make for an exceptional scenery.
I have never seen so many tree ferns, they literally cover the bottom of the Forest.
I gota tell ya going up wasn't so bad but coming down was bloody creepy.
We stayed the night on a lookout just outside of Acheron, not a bad view and all for free.
