20120925 Qld Millmerran to Inglewood

20120925 Heading for Millmerran for a shower, wash the Van, top up on supplies and walk the town to take my photos.
It is thought that the town’s name came from two Aboriginal words “meel” meaning “eye” and “merran” meaning “to look out”. This is related to the fact that the town is located near a lookout which was commonly used by the local Aborigines.

Many sheep graze on the lush land on the way to Millmerran.

The Mural shows the development of transport from the 19th century to the early parts of the 20th century.

Once a butter factory, the Mural depicts the development of the dairy industry.
In 1907, 47-year-old Patrick Keating was seen acting suspiciously in the hallway of the Dornville Hotel, he was making his way from bedroom no 4 to bedroom no 6, occupied by heavy-set shearer John Conway, aged about 40. Conway tried to assert that Keating had assaulted him. But the evidence suggests otherwise. Why had Conway decided to stay the night when he only lived a few miles away? He was sober and aware of ‘certain rumours’ concerning Keating. Conway admitted that he had asked Keating to return to his room for a tube of lanoline. His apparent excuse: ‘I wanted to see how far.. [he] would go’.

Inglewood, our next stop, we walked the town, Des checked out the real estate as he does in every bloody town we stop at so I kept walking. Stopping at a Boutique, I started talking to a lady who told me about a camp spot about 14km up the road and on a creek, bonus. First though, I noticed a sign for $5 steak and vegies or salad & chips out the front of the Royal Hotel, you’d have to be jumping mad to pass that up.

Only two Hotels in this small town, this one the, Inglewood Hotel.

The Royal Hotel with there $5 lunches Tuesday and Thursday.
After our yummy lunch we went in search of the camp spot, and there it is so we camped up for another relaxing couple of days on the weir. We would go for a walk in the afternoon for some seriously needed exercise and to pass the time.

We parked up and claimed the table so Mr Organised sets up the cooking items and washing tub all ready to go.  Des in his element cooking out breaky.
27-09-2012  As it was $5 Thursday counter lunch we decided to lunch in Inglewood so we had a light breakfast and packed up then lazed around waiting for the time to pass.  I decided to ride the pushy to town, Des recons I'm mad, it's only 15ks Des it's not that far so I left just after 11.00am and was in town before Des arrived, he was a bit surprised.
