20120826 Qld St George, Nindigully & Talwood

20120826 A quick stop at St George our 2nd time here, to stock up on supplies and wash some cloths. After shopping Des asked a lady selling tickets if she knew where a laundry mate was, yep up the road at the caravan park. So off we go, got our cloths and coins and put on our washing, while the washing was on we walked to the weir and back. Next a guy approached us and asked if that was our Motorhome out the front, yes said Des, are you staying the night he said, no Des said, well get your stuff and get out he said, hold on a minute I asked a lady at Footwork’s if she knew where a laundry mate was and she told us the caravan park up the road, this is private property get your stuff and get out, luck for us the washing was at the end of its last spin so we grabbed our cloths and left, what a prick, anyone would think it was free.

We camped up at the Nindigully for two lay back days, only it wasn't the same, we really missed the old crew we meet on our first visit, we had such a great time.

Des and I went for a walk and ran into this large bullick just like the one from Lara Station, that is no more.  Standing taller than Des and valued at around $1000.
The white flowers covering the  were everywhere, I thought it made for ground a pretty shoot I thought.

A shot taken from a different angle of the creek, with the old bridge being the focus point.

The rickety old bridge with its no entry sign is only used as a stopover for the wildlife.
27-08-2012  Another lazy day, Des wonders around chatting here and there while I blog or go for a walk.  The bell rang for happy hour at 4.30pm as usual, so Des and I popped over for a drink, all they could offer was shato cardboard, so I sipped on the shit, which took a bit to get down, then left, I must be getting fussy in my old age.

Onto the tiny town of Talwood to check out our favourite yabby spot, where on our last trip we got over 360. We had no longer parked up and Des had a pot out bated and was heading down the road, I'm just putting one in to see if there’s any here, if there is I'll be back for the others. Well! Within the hour he was back and we were off to drop the rest of the pots. We went to the Talwood Hotel for tea and got to watch Home Away (Michael’s favourite show) for the first time since leaving Lara Station, it certainly didn't take much to catch up. Des landed himself a job looking after the amenities, the cleaner “Bungie” said he had a meeting at the Nindigully Hotel and asked Des if he could fill the toilet rolls, so the trusty local handed him the key and said he would return Thursday for the key, country people, you gota love em.
29-08-2012 Des was up and left early to check his pots while I sat in the van playing my music and writing down the number plate of people throwing cigarette butts on the ground. I found a web site called "Dob in a Litterer" and joined it, so watch out. Des thinks he's now one of the locals, the last time we were in Talwood he meet a guy who drove him to a great spot to catch yabbies, well this time he invited him into his house, come in mate how did ya go, catch many? ya a few said Des, sit down and watch this race I'm a real gambling man, love me horses. He gave Des a packet of fish and Des gave home the small yabbies for fishing then left. Then he meet another guy who was also catching yabbies for fishing but only wonted the small ones so they swapped the small for the big ones, Des was more than happy with that deal.  He was telling him about the job he landed from Bungie and the meeting at the Nindigully, F,N bull shit he’s a piss head and just wants to hit the piss he said with a chuckle.

30-08-2012 We left our camp site and headed down the road to some more borrowed pits, as they are called here (dams) where Des was told he would get larger yabbies. If his first pull was any indicator we should have left but he persevered and dropped the pots, only this time he walked over to the back dams, but by 2.30pm he had enough and pulled the lot, only he couldn't remember where he dropped them all, he was missing one. We walked up and down and around the dams trying to find the last pot, I can't believe you can't remember where you dropped them, you’re losing it Des, eventually he found it in the back dam. On our way back to our camp site he dropped them in overnight, gotta get those last ones.

31-08-2012 Des was up and gone to pull his pots early and on return DE headed the poor mites and in the freezer they went.

After breaky we packed up and headed to Dalby to meet an old friend Steve Katon who we havn't seen in years..
Stopping on the way to give way to the cattle crossing the outback roads.
I especially love the dog hitching a ride these are such amazing farm animals.
