20120531 Qld Hervey Bay to Mundubbera

20120531 Arrived at Hervey Bay and onto Boko and Margie’s with a warm welcome a lovely dinner complements of Boko followed by many drinks. Saturday was a tour to some of the little towns around the bay followed by lunch at the Boat Club then home for a few drinks.

This is a house being made out of Containers it will be interesting to see the finished product.
Do you get the feeling this guy is trying to make a point.

Des and Boko enjoying there Beer while taken in the view.

The view with the added bones of a rainbow.

20120603  We had a lay back day waiting for Jack and Jess to surprise Margie with their appearance which was let out the bag. It was great to catch up with Jack and Jess and Margie once again out did herself with a scrumptious dinner.

04-06-2012  Bundy was to be our next stop to catch up with my Grand kids but Donna was sick so we decided to go inland to Ban Ban Springs but were bitterly disappointed, we stayed for lunch then drove onto Gayndah and camped up on the Weir.

 The Wakka Wakka Legend
The story of Ban Ban Spring in the Dreamtime the Rainbow Serpent surfaced here and spoke to the elders of the tribe and telling them of the secrets of the sacred waters and how to us it.  The Rainbow Serpent also told of talks he had had with the seven sisters and of the wonders he had seen while making the pathway for the sacred water to flow in this area.
Yep this is the big spring we were going to stay at but decided to move on after some lunch.

Gayndah known for its citrus fruit and beside the Weir where we parked for the night were many ripe Mandarins and some found a home in our van, Yum Yum.  Across the lane we say literally thousands of mandarins dumped on the property, so we figured the few we picked wouldn’t get wasted.

Gayndah is the home of the Queensland Derby first run in 1968 over 1 1/2 miles and was won by "The Hermit".

05-06-2012  We had no reception at the Weir and Des just had to watch his show on Tuesday night “The Sons of Anakie” so we had breakfast, washed the van and drove back to Gayndah to check out the town before driving onto a free camp 'The Black Stump' just before Mundubbera but first, check if we have reception, yep all good.  We decided to get some exercise so we walk to Mundubbera to check out the town about a 5k walk.

I took photos while Des checked out real estate as he does in  every town and this is the Royal Hotel.
