20120418 Qld Nindigully Pub

20120418 We missed the turn off to Nindigully about 15ks out of our way so around we turn and head back. Ya! Were here, now to find that special spot to park up, right next to the pub will do me, I can roll out and fall into bed. We walked around trying to find a place near the water, but this thing is too big to get under the trees, we parked about 300ft from the pub, "nice". Straight to the pub, we meet Peter, the deviate hippy, Trevor, the have a chat and Bob who volunteers his help in the pub. The Happy hour bell rings at 4.30 and Bob yells, "Happy Hour" people come out of the wood works, the D.J start singing, and we drank more. We had a great night but can't remember weather we ate; we woke the next morning pretty hungry, so we think not.

2012 will be Nindigully Pub 8th year of racing pigs and the event helps raise money for the Royal Flying Doctors Service.  Last year over $14,500 was raised which is a lot of money for a small town with a population of only 9.

The walls are lined with hats that belonged to many of the locals, some long past on.
The Moonie River surrounds Nindigully, Phil, Paula, Alex and I strolled around taking photos and trying to pick up some tips from Phil. Alex with his Pentax film camera thats been under his bed for years, I think we convinced him to buy a Cannon digital or it's going to cost him a fortune in developing.

The old bridge with the reflection makes for a great shoot.

20120419 I blogged all day sitting in the sun with my music going, a very enjoyable day. Des ended up at the pub early, meeting people as they turn up, but pacing himself. He meets Alex from Vanuatu and his wife Christeen who told him of another couple turning up soon who caught heaps of yabbies at Talwood, well, that got his interest. A camper asked Des if he had meet three guy's traveling together, he was given some fish for them and was told they would be at Nindigully, Des, I'll look after it for them, I don't think so. Pete ended up looking after it but had no room in his van so we ended up with it anyway. By 2.30pm it was time for a drink and a little smoke so I packed up and strolled over to Pete's to return last night’s favour, and wait for the bell. We all gathered at the pub on the bell for a few drink and some great laugh. Instead of paying for drinks we ended up back at our meeting place, a picnic table and chair between Pete's van and ours. Out comes the docking bay, set up the music and it wasn't long before I was singing to the park (more like keeping them awake, Des recons). Pete and I were the last up and he was into the red wine and listening to my singing (poor fellow), I'm sure we were both too out of it to take notice, but we had a great night.

20-04-2012 Pete woke, not so good and blamed it on the red wine, one bottle usually last him a week, not one night. I can drink three bottles and I don't get hangovers, what’s wrong with you Pete.

Pete nursing a hangover, now don't be like that Pete.

No one looked for the three guys to give the fish to, so we decided to cook it up and have a late lunch before the Bell rings at 4.30. Paula made rissoles and we both made a salad, Pete smoked the fish and we all enjoyed a lovely lunch ready for our next session. The bell rings and we head over for the Happy Hour, only we stayed more than an hour.

Painted on the wall out the back of the pub, lot of trucks stop over for a feed, drinks and a nap before moving on.
The motley looking crew of Nindigully Pub taken over, apparently one of the locals isn't impressed with us nomads taken over, (what he calls) the locals seats.  That would be that fat guy in the back ground in the blue shirt,  I bet he's not married so he has to winge about something.

This was to be the beginning of a great night; another two couples joined our table with great travel stories and laughs but only stayed for a couple. What started out as a few drinks then adjourning inside to watch the footy, Australia & N.Z. Des and Alex were chatting away when three girls walked in, they stopped talking and their eyes were bulging, they could not have been more obvious, I punched Des, how come I get into trouble, you were checking them out to and Alex cracked up, I remember up to their, after that it's pretty much a blur. Apparently I was calling Paula, Julie all night; well that's what they tell me.

Paula, Christeen and Phil, I don't know what that smirk on Paula's face is all about but something tickled her fancy and it looks like Phil had something to do with it, I recon they were up to no good.

This is that strange person Julie posing with Christeen laughing on.
Des, Trevor and Alex enjoy a good laugh followed with many drinks.
Phil, Des, Trevor and Alex now that spells trouble.

Our daily meeting place, in the the back row is Pete, the deviate hippy and have a chat, Trevor, in the Front row is" Des, with his new mate Alex and his wife Christeen and Paula or is it Julie.

The add on in the right hand corner is Phil, Paula's other half. Phil did a superb demonstration of me staggering to bed last night; any one would think he's known me for years, the smart ass.  And by the way, Australia won,"Yaaa"so I was told the next day.

We had a fabulous time and meet some lovely fun people.
