20120410 NSW Trangie to Burren Junction
20120410 Stopped at Trangie for lunch, called into Collie Hotel at Phil request to meet the publican Maryanne and Matt. They told us of a large camping spot at Mendooran on a river and it's free.

This grassy stuff rolls all over the roads, I don't know what it's called but it similar to tumble weed in the American desert but smaller.
Stopped at Gilgandra for supplier, I went into this shop who's food looked like crap and when I asked if there were any other stores in town he told me no, the lying prick their was an IGA just up the road, I was soo tempted to go back and have a go at him, but I didn't, lucky for him.
Mendooran, arrived after 3pm, it was cold and windy, we set up, I blogged for a while,Des walk around chatting to who ever he could.
20120411 Established in 1834, it is believed the name came from an Aboriginal word meaning’ sand washes down from the hills in this place. As at 1886 there were 24 residents recorded in the area. The village was called Mundooran until the 1920’s when it was changed to Mendooran. It seams to me all these places were named by the Aborigines, did we name anything? We walked to town and checked out all the shops, it soo great to see towns like this still exist, it's like time has stood still, I really liked the little untouched village's.

An Op Shop gotta check that out, nothing much but across the road looks interesting.
"Sticky Beak" vintage Emporium, now that's more like it. I brought two Patent Leather bags a red for $12 & navy blue for $20. I reckon I should open a vintage shop, think of all the shopping we could do to stock it, or we could start at Nick place.
The town is known for it's open air gallery painted with over 10 colorful Murals reflecting scenes from local history and rural life, his one captured my eye, as I'm sure it will yours.
The old post office has a yesteryear appeal and the elderly chap just set the scene.
One of the many charming little cottage's in the small village.

Des and I had a great laugh, we should have stayed to check it out.
Our camp site for a couple of days, it's nice to sit back and take it all in instead of heavy hauling (as Des puts it) every day.
The river we camped on, but no yabbies.
This little fellow decided to hitch a left but didn't get too far once we hit the road, he bailed out.
20120412 Not much to talk about we took a load off and relaxed all day, Des walked the camp site looking for someone to talk to then he noticed the older travelers we meet at the Rabbit Trap turn up, Bob, come over for a drink later, I'll light the fire, so Bob and his crew were our entertainment for the night, well a couple of hours at least.
20120413 Our neighbors told us about a Hot Water spring (Artesian Bath) at Burren Junction, that sounds nice Des. Drove through Coonabarabran but took a fly by shoot of this pub, only because Des has a story to tell.
As the story goes, by Des Cathcart, on one of there many rides to Bathurst they stopped for a drink at this Hotel. They were about to leave when one of the guys noticed his spare helmets missing, when they looked over the other side of the road, there was a heap of Aborigines looking at them, assuming they took the helmet, they thought, stuff that they can have it, leaving the stolen helmet behind.
The beautiful cotton fields as we drive into Burren Junction.
13-04-2012 Arrived at Burren Junction, not much here except to relax and bath in the Hot Artision Bath for a few days.
14 to 15-04-2012 Des tried yabbing again but had no luck so he gave up. I blogged during the day then after 4pm everyone gathered around each other's place's for drinks and a laugh.

One afternoon Des copped it, he told everyone he watched a show on how Cholesterol pills were making people loose there memory and he's on the same ones, and believe me, he has been bad, well' didn't we give him shit, but we all got a good laugh at Des's expense.
The Great Artisan Basin is approximately two million years old! Natural pressure sends water to the surface through an artisan bore and it maintains a constant temperature of 41.5 degrees Celsius.
We were all having a few drinks when we noticed the Sunset over Burren Junction.
We decided not to back track, lucky for Des there is cotton growing along the road near our camp so I could check it out and pinch some for the kids.
20120416 We packed up and said our goodbyes to another group of nomads then hit the road again for Lightning Ridge.
