20120313 Need food to keep the grog down also getting low on Wine and Beer so we stopped to build up our supplies, can't have us running out. Meet a lovely guy (Tony) in the Barn who gave us a couple of stubby coolers, loaded up the trolley with our goods, we should be right for a couple more weeks, hopefully. Parked up overlooking a lake along an old Train line a nice quite area in Queenscliff.
The view from our van once we parked up.
20120314 Need to do some washing so we unloaded the bike, put on our leathers and headed for town following the direction from a passerby, another bum steer it was back in the other direction. The bike was playing up and we could smell rubber burning, Des is getting frustrated and is going to f___ this thing off when we get home. He eventually found the problem (thank god) did our washing then went for a ride around the inlet.

A young couple told us that the age of most of the people in Queenscliff is 75 years that probably why it was a neat and tidy town.

Fort Queenscilff dates from 1860 when an open battery was constructed on Shortland's Bluff to defend the entrance to Port Philip Bay. It is claimed that the first British Empire artillery shots of World War 1 were fired when a gun at Fort Nepean fired across the bow of the German freighter Pfalz, as she was attempting to escape to sea. The order to fire came from Port Queenscliff. It is alleged that the same gun, with a different barrel, also fired the first Australian artillery shot of WW2.

20120314 Barwon Heads- Camped up in a boat ramp the tide was high, and the water was so clear you just wanted to jump in. There was a lady sitting on the boat ramp watching her children swimming when I put my foot in the water to see how cold it was, man it was freezing. I turned around and said that waters freezing, & she replied, yep, that's way I not swimming. I was soo disappointed all along the coastline the water has been so tempting but too cold to swim. I shouted Des out for dinner at the local Hotel that night then home for a quite night.
Photos along the waterfront.
We parked just up from this bridge, but the tide was much higher.
20120315 We drove up to Barwon Bluff before leaving for the Great Ocean Road I can hardly wait.
