20120301 VIC Foster
20120301 Originally known as Stockyard Creek, Foster was founded in 1870 when the discovery of gold brought settlers from near and far. Originally a gold mining town settled in 1871, mining ceased in the 1930s and it has since acted as the major service center for Wilson Promontory.
20120302 The Weather is changing all the time, we are now into our winter cloths, this wind has a real chill to it. Arrived in Foster and decided to go for a ride to Wilsons Promontory National Park the next day. We did our usual walk around the town which didn't take long, Foster is a small town with a lot of history. Now where to park up, I spotted a car park at the back of the shops so Des went to check it out when an elderly man asked Des if he could help him? Des: I'm looking for somewhere to park the Winne, the guy said, here mate I own all this so park right here, we couldn't believe our luck he gave us power and the keys to his office if we wanted to use the toilet, it's such a pleasure to meet lovely people and we have meet heaps on this trip.
I found this adorable park a at the back of the shops when it started to rain heavily, I'm trying to take photos and keep my camera dry but I wasn't leaving without my shots, I arrived back as wet as a shag but camera dry.
03-03-2012 The weathers turned really bad so there goes our ride to the National Park which is a must to see so we've been told, all we can do now is wait it out. Llyn is the guy's name who let us park here, said we could stay as long as we like and after watching the news we didn't have much choose, the road to the national park was flooded. I was reading Heathers blog to Des when he started laughing at the tale of there soaked through tent and where sitting here with our heater on in the comfort of our little home as dry as a bone, Des is such a sadest , poor Winne and Heathers there braver than us.
Board I'm going for a walk and happerly snapping away when I spotted a lady going through the gates to a Museum, I was in there clicking away when a woman asked how I got in? I walked in through the gate over there, I didn't know I had to pay $3.00 and it was worth it.

Bird Day the teachers would take the pupils into the bush to observe the bird-life, this was to encourage the pupils to join the Gould League Bird Lovers Guild. Adults thought students would develop an interest in nature and a lover of beauty by planting trees and observing birds. This would improve their characters and make them better people.
We were all busy doing our school work when our male teacher strolled into the class room taking extra long strides and announced. We all went mad. the boys thumping there hobnail boots on the wooden floor, everyone cheering and banging there desk tops up and down. Then to top it off we were all allowed to go home early. I still know where I was sitting in the class and can still see our teacher striding into the classroom and saying

Water cart built about 1920 and was used to transport water from the Tarra river to the butter factory. A pump and small petrol engine mounted on the frame at the front filled and emptied the semi-cylindrical wooden drum which held 200ltrs. Drawn by 2 horses these carts were originally built for spraying of orchards.
The cradle was a basic implement for the gold seekers, rubble was shovelled on to the top tray and the devise was rocked, water washed the smaller particles down over other trays to the floor, where, trapped be narrow slats, the heavier specks of gold were retrieved.
4-03-2012 The rains eased so we decided to chance it and visit Wilson Promontory National Park. I'm so glad we waited the parks surrounded by a beautiful beach along with interesting bolders and scenic mountain views.
