20120215 NSW Wingham

20120215 All charged up, now we can check out that great spot we were heading to yesterday “Ellenborough” we drove 65ks found the location but it was too muddy to park up so we choose to take an inland route to Wingham apparently another great location.  We stopped at a quaint little Pub for a drink checked it out, took some photos of some unusual cows called Saddle Back according to Des.

Saddle Back
Instead of taken the coast highway Des decided to take an inland route through Comboyne which started off very pretty then about 35klm in it turned to a dirt road Ooo shit, we still have 29 klm to go were hoping it wasn't all dirt.  Des spotted an old farmer & stopped to ask him how long the dirt road go's for, he was not much help, talk about a happy Chappy he told Des don't worry about it mate, just enjoy it, Des reply "its stuffing me van" The farmer, awe just take your time & enjoy it, you had to laugh.

Killabakh Nature Reserve the dirt road.

We arrived at Wingham & the floods had taken its toll on the area & parts of it were still closed but we parked up & stayed for a few days.

On sun set the bats make havoc as they set out for their dinner but settled down as it got darker.  It rained through the night but the days were sunny so we decided to remove the bike & go for a bit of a road trip.  I wasn't so sure only because Des didn't feel very comfortable on the bike because it was to light, so I told him to go for a bit of a ride on his own to get the feel of it before I got on.  All good, we rode up to Mt George which was a great ride apart from all the pot holes, that part I didn't like but we made it to the top found a little store which sold XXXX Gold & had one each.

The General store we brought out beer from.

I felt a more relaxed going down but that could have been the beer, or we had a better idea where the potholes were.  After we arrived home, I decided to get Des to give me a lesson on the bike, I must have got 100 yards & went to turn, you should have seen the bruises on my leg I haven't tried since.  Wingham was a nice lay back little town which had a wonderful cloths shop new & preloved, god I miss the girls on those occasions.
