20120213 NSW Port Macquarie
20120213 Des spotted another great spot from his trusty Camp 6 book, so we decided to check it out. It was marked up as a great spot to camp on
a river called Ellenborough about 59klm in from Port Macquarie when we noticed
the little face on our solar gage was not smiling & when that happens the
fridge doesn’t work.
After some time, we figured out what we did wrong, when we were stopping & looking around, we were leaving the fridge on DC which was draining the batteries (dumb dumbs) so our plans are now changed & we head for Port Macquarie to seek out a Caravan Park to recharge. Shit wrong turn, (bloody Nav) it took us up the garden path shitty roads & to top that off a low clearing bridge, this it when the swearing got worse, I wasn't ever game to take photos of the stuff up but luckily there was a high clearance although it was full of water so I braved it & walked through to make sure we couldn't get bogged, you could imagine how that would have went down, but it was all good it only took us about 20klm out of our way (not good). We made it to Port Macquarie paid the $35.00 (not good) for the night and plugged in to recharge; at least we could have a nice long hot shower.
The park was situated on the waters front a lovely position and a great morning's walks, so I showed up, got my iPod and walked and jogged right to the tip, now if I lived in a place like this, I wouldn't mind walking every day. Along the waters front are placed large boulders that have been painted with names of people deceased, lovers, friends and so forth.
