20120228 VIC Lake Enterance

20120228 Some more fly bye photos on the way to Lake Enterance.

I know this doesn't look much but this bush was burnt out and with the regrowth against the black tree trunks looked quite interesting when driving through.
Signs telling you to nap yet you're not allowed to park up just anywhere.

Lake Entrance is situated between Bairnsdale and Orbust at a man-made channel that links Bass Strait and the Tasman Sea.

I love these town on the water with there boardwalk for my daily exercise it's better than walking around traffic pollution.  I spotted heaps of trawlers, lets bet we can't get fresh prawns. There is a calm and a surf side to this town so you have the best of both.  Why is it so difficult to find some place to camp up, signs everywhere saying no camping "Bloody Hell".  Finally we found a spot on a lake, now all we have to do is hope no one kicks us out.
I made the most of it and walked around the lake snapping away and getting heaps of photos.

There lots of jetties along this strip with boats for hire for $70.00 for 1 hour if your that keen then you have to obtain a fishing licence so I guess that count us out.

29-02-2012  The next morning we left early to a boat ramp we saw the day before to make breakfast but instead I decided to go for a walk along the boardwalk and a great walk it was although it did start raining.  I got back an hour later or more and found out the amenities have hot showers so breaky was followed by a lovely hot shower.  Some more photos in town while Des checks out another sea food place he spotted, nope still no good, then on the road again.

More trawlers but I do think they make for a great photo and this harbor had heaps of them.
The foot bridge I took this photo from the surf side facing the mainland.  The footbridge actually spans Gippsland Lakes' Cunninghame Arm and takes us to the start of the 90 Mile Beach.

Black Swan and we've seen lots of them along the way.

These wooden sculptures are carved out of old tree trunks and are found along the Esplanade, they represent images of Australia at war.

Jack Simpson Kirkpatrick as a child worked as a donkey-lad in his school holidays and had a great affection for animals in particular donkeys.  He deserted ship in Australia when he herd  of the war with Germany, fearing that a deserter may not be accepted in the Australian Army he dropped his last name and enlisted as John Simpson, now known as Australian most famous and best loved military hero. Well there you go did you know all no that?
