20120226 NSW Edan

20120226 Drove through Bega the town of Bega Cheese everything closed as all the small towns we pass through; I suppose there's not much to open for with such a small population.  Stopped a Yellow Pinch Dam to camp for the night but it wasn't much chop, so we drove on to Edan.

The definition of Eden is ‘delightful abode' and ‘state of supreme happiness.  Eden was occupied by the Katungal (‘sea coast people’) for at least 6,000 years.  The area was inhabited by the Thawa tribe of the Yuin nation before white settlement.  Thawa belief that Killer Whales (“Beowas”) as they called them were reincarnated tribal warriors reborn to the sea from the Dreamtime and would not harm these mammals of the sea, calling to them with chants, water slapping and offerings of food.  Thus between man and these highly intelligent mammals a cooperative bond grew.

Now our daily ritually of finding a place to camp, we drove to the beach and again there are signs saying no camping so where does Des park  right next to a historical cemetery, lucky for him I like old cemetery so we camped up for the night, mind you it was also on the Beach.  After lunch I went for a walk around the old cemetery then along the board walk while Des had a sleep.

Later in the afternoon Des and I went to look for the pub he recons we passed on the way in to Edan, we kept on hearing these wired bird sounds when a lady passing by said the Bellbirds were out in force and they sound just like a bell, there's one for you to look up Doug.  We found out the pub was in the opposite direction but there was a golf club up the road so that's were ended up.

20120227 I went for another long walk along the boardwalk (love these boardwalk) then back to collect my trusty camera, I spent hours taken pictures of the rock formation, Dolphins and the views, Nick some of these places are a photographer's dream.

All these photos are taken along Aslings Beach.

The water laying around the rock was once a pool so I was told by a lady on the beach but now it has filled up with sand and it a shallow swimming hole for kids, Ashford (grandson) would love to be let loose in there.

You can walk so far around the rock the picture above is the back of the rock and the RHS is facing the water where people fish from.  That is where I watched the Dolphins frolicking in the water.

There were so many Dolphins summing playfully around the bay I watched them for ever waiting for that special leap out of the water but unfortunately it never happened.
