20120214 NSW Bellingen to Port Macquarie
20120214 On the way to Dorrigo, we passed a small village “Bellingen”
that took my fancy, so we decided to stop on the way down & check it
out. After finally finding a parking spot
we strolled through this charming village which nestled on the banks of the
Bellinger River. I found a great little
shop full of nick knack’s looking for a pin to add to my collection when after
speaking to the owner, who must have been in her late 70s told me it took her 30
years to build up her stock & the story behind how the Bellinger River was
spelt with (er instead of en), apparently in those days their N looked like an
R.
This river flows from the top of Dorrigo to Coffs inlet supplying water to countless farmers, it just goes on for bloody ever and it rapidness would be great for canoeing, but I wouldn't like to swim in it.
This photo is taken in Bellingen which is about halfway down the range, and you can still see debris caught under the bridge from the floods.
I couldn't resist this dated phone booth for a quick pick with this old guy reading up on the real estate in the area (miser).
