20210722 Qld Hamilton Hotel

20210722 Now to find a place to camp for the night as we travel along this vast terrain, after checking Wiki, ha Des there's Hotel ahead where we can camp for free, only to arrive at the historic site of the Hamilton Hotel that burnt down in the 1900, well that was a bummer.  We parked up and stayed the night so we raised our drinks to the old pioneer's George and Glady's Hasted Rest Area.

Right below me lies one the largest Artesian groundwater basin in the world, the water supply here is drawn by wind power and comes from the basin directly beneath me.

We noticed some vans in the distance so with a wine and beer in our hands we toddle off to check it out when I came across a couple of grave sites and a dug out where vans were camped at.

A pioneering woman who who arrived in Boulia with her new family, they delivered supplies for the construction of Boulia township in the 1800's.  She began a new carrier when she took on the running of the Middleton Hotel until it burnt down in the 1920's.  She passed away in 1953 at age 85 in the middle of a flood.  She was buried at the only remaining site not under water, the top of dam wall.
The remains of what was part of our pioneering's true past.

The Pioneer's Outback Way

The left over remnants of what was once the Hamilton Hotel, built in 1897, and burnt down in the 1900's.  There were several such hotels on the Kennedy Development Road from Winton to Boulia as it they were part of one of the 9 Pillars of Cobb & Co loops.

Our camp for the night and a full moon to top it off, look out Des.

A Semi turns into the driveway heading to a station to stock up their fuel leaving a huge dust trail behind, as Des runs to close the hatches in the van.

An awesome night in the outback, not a street light to be seen only the star's to show the way.

LOVE THE OUTBACK
