20260720 Here we are again on the Barcoo River and someone’s in our usual spot, but we were nice and let them stay. Out come the yabbie pots and off he goes walking through the bush to his secret spot. A couple camped near the river said it was too stagnate to catch yabbies but in he goes anyway. After a couple of hours he’s off to check his pot, a bit embarrassed when he returns with two tiny yabbies showing the campers who Promptly walked off and returned with a huge mud crab. Here mate I have a freezer full of them as he proceeds telling Des the tale of tubs they caught in Darwin, then out comes the photos, and Des was certainly impressed. Des returned home yelling Lee, look what I caught holding up a mud crab in a sealed plastic bag, ya sure, so you caught it in the plastic bag, 😂.
We meet Lee-Ann and Rodger for a few drinks even though Lee-Ann doesn’t drink any more but she makes up for it with many a good old yarns and lots of laughs.
Off he goes with his trusty companion, Buddy the fox terrier who waited for his arrival every day and followed him to check his catch.
Our Buddy did get a bit curious one day a got nipped on the nose and let out a yelp, Desies first thought was, I hope they don’t think I kicked him, Mr freakier.
A new addition to the Blackall sculpture trail, the Black Stump of Blackall.
We walked all the way down the road leading to the Historic Union Hotel just for a bottle of Port and while there we had a nice cold beer, after all it was a thirsty walk.
Over 120 years old and still standing although she’s in desperate need of repair but from my understanding she still rocks.

Australian’s humour at its best, probably not allowed today.
The things you find on a country’s pub wall, good old Aussie humour, that’s for sure, so take a read and you will laugh foe sure.😅😅 Here we are once again at the Blackall Pool where the water is drawn from the Great Artesian Basin, coming out of the ground at a hot 58°C before being cooled down for use.
We had a lovely soak in the springs and left all refreshed heading to Tambo just 100ks up the road, chugging along when Des saw a camp spot about 30ks out of Blackall, ya want to stop, sure so we checked it out and decided to stay.
This is us for the night but there are a couple of camper spread out so we are not alone and I can’t play my loud music, bugger. Des feels a bit drained after our Artision swim, I did tell him to drink plenty of water, but what would I know.
We parked up and grabbed a beer and wondered the grounds checking out the creek under the bridge, that had a bit of murky water but Des recons the yabbies have been fished out.
Pub! What Pub🙅
An aerial shot of the Barcoo Camping area.

The road leading to Tambo, look, no traffic.
