20180528 NSW Scone to Wallabadah
20180528 Des wakes me singing ‘Happy Birthday To You’ before bringing me my usual cup of herb tea in bed, and that’s how my days begins, now let’s see what adventure he has planed for us today.
After checking every pub in town we finally settled in to a yummy lunch at the Willow Tree Hotel in Scone.
The bronze sculpture depicts Scone as the Horse Capital of Australia and claims to be the second largest horse breeding area in the world after Kentucky in the United States.
The Scone historical Campbell's
Corner was built in 1928 by Campbell and operated as a department store until 1970s.
Big Blue is a larger than life horse in two parts so you can walk through the animal or it can appear to be emerging into or out of walls, it was created by stockman turned sculpture Nick Adams, and is made from baling twine and stands 2.2 metres high.
29-05-2018 We camped at Wallabadah in NSW, another struggling town with just a pub and convenient store but they do supply the weary traveller a lovely camp ground on a running creek with hot showers for a $10 donation.
The grounds are surrounded with stones on which the names of the crews, passengers, New South Wales Corp and convicts are chiselled and the history of each ship are profiled on "sail" boards and the picnic area is shaped like a ship.
The Marshall McMahon Hotel, built in 1867 is a lovely pub with wonderful meals and a fabulous fire place to ease those chilly bones if you’re on a long bike rides and if you do camp up there's a courteous bus to pick you up and drop you off.

We had drinks with some
fellow campers (Gary and Veronica) around a much needed fire, I don't know what
the temperature was but I tell you it was bloody freezing.
Farewell to another great camp site in a lonely town.
