20160518 NSW Gunnedah to Barraba
20160518 Passing
Tamba Springs to Mullaley onto Gunnedah, situated amid the black soil plains of
the Namoi River valley and the district has a booming wheat, cotton and cattle
industry and the large koala population has led to Gunnedah’s self-proclaimed
title of the koala capital of the world.
Gunnedah was named after the Gunn-e-darr people and the word means ‘the
place of white stone’.
Gunnedah Town Centre
The pub
with $8 counter meals with frozen vegies.
I don’t know
what we did but we took a wrong turn somewhere and this is what we found, sheep, sheep and more sheep.
Nope, Attunga
was not on our root.
This is where we
were supposed to come out Manilla, are well it was only 24ks out of our way.
Manilla’s Town
Centre but we didn’t stop just drove through.
We noticed many
cattle grazing along the way and when we stopped to collect wood a drover on a
quad bike called in for a chat, it’s so dry and no water they drovers roam the
country to feed the cattle and they are long days.
Passing through
Barraba as it’s getting late and we like to be parked up before 3 or 4pm to
avoid the animals on the road.
