20160519 NSW Bingara, Inverell, Ashford, Millmerran to Pittsworth
20160519 Bingara is one of those great camp spots that you never want to leave, sitting beside the Gwydir River watching the bird life while downing a nice cold beer.
Stopping at Inverell for a shower at the local garage then into town for a dirty old pie that Des has been hanging out for but then we saw counter meals at the Tatts Hotel for $15, and I'm so glad we did, a great meal.

21-05-2016 Camp oven stew one night then Jaffels on the coals the next night why would you want to leave this, but I am very keen to get home to see my little boys who are grown way too fast.

We've been to Inverell before so I don't have to bore you with any history but I spotted this wheel chair buggy when leaving and thought is was a worth a look.
I wanted to see the town of Ashford mainly because that’s my grandson’s name, and we keep missing it on other trips. Ashford, is a tiny town which, due the changes in transportation, has been reduced to only a few shop’s left operating. Many of the shops are closed and the Strand Theatre, once the centre of the village’s social life, no longer operates.

The town of Ashford now has a population of 570 and more are leaving all the time, so sad to see these once thriving town struggle.
The General Store when the town was thriving.
The store is now closed along with most of these shops.
The Strand Theatre in Ashford, once the entertainment of the town.
Well with not much to see in Ashford we left for Wells Crossing beside Severn River for the night.
22-05-2016 All the town's after Ashford we've explored before so there's no history details to bore you all with, thank god. Des is anxious to catch some yabbies, that bloody Darrel with his big catch has poor Des envious so it's off to Millmerran to try his luck.
23-05-2016 Des headed out to check his pot and returned with a few tiny yabbies, very disappointing and he wouldn't brave a photo so I could show Darrel his poor catch, spoil sport.
The Millmerran water take mural depicts the history of the town.

Our camp spot over looking the creek with no yabbies. but we had a great fire and jaffels, potatoes and pumpkin in the coals, yum.
24-05-2016 Yippee! we are home would bound and I can hardly wait to see my grand children but first we stop to check out the town of Pittsworth.
Yep! it's just another town.
Des recons it's more like Leonie's world, cheeky bugger.
One more stop, and that would be the Alex for lunch before the dreaded task of unpacking and cleaning the house.
