20160428 Vic Yallourn, Rosedale, Sale to Bairnsdale
20160428 All refreshed we take a scenic root inland following the Nav, which tends to take us on a wild goose chase, so here’s hoping we don’t get lost. Turning off just after Moe we go inland towards Yallourn North onto Tyers and brings you out at Traralgon.
As we come over the hill into Yallourn I quickly grabbed my camera and started shooting, what the hell are they I said to Des? These massive silos dominate the skies, and after reading about them Yallourn Power Station are the 3rd largest power station in Victoria. It’s just lucky I always have my camera ready for that special shoot because there is no way Des can stop that quickly.
We camped at Rosedale a small town with some quant interesting shops to help pass the time away, but one in particular that took my interest was “Rustys”. Not only did they sell fascinating old wares but the artist made the most bazar sculpture out of old misused items.
Rustys garden art made from recycled scraps
We found these wood carvings in a bakery and there made out of one solid piece of timber.
Come on surely you can see the similarities.
The Rosedale Hotel, or what’s left of her, built in 1858, I bet she has some stories to tell.
Des forced me to stay up with him to burn some of the wood he doesn’t want to carry so once again we had a night with too much drinking but it was fun.
30-04-2016 Stopped at Sale just to stock up on supplies as we have been here before.
This car drove past us, what the hell is it Des, neither of us had ever seen one like it before. I thought it look like a statesman and Des thought it was a HR back.
In the shopping centre car park and have no idea what it is but I’m dam sure I wouldn’t take it to a shopping centre, crazy.
Yaa! we made it.
I know it’s another church but this one it worth a look. St Mary’s Church is executed in the Romanesque style, a slat roof and copper dome to the dominant 42 metre high, asymmetrically placed tower.
The interior decorative scheme is of murals depicting the apostles, numerous saints, imaginings of purgatory, heaven and hell, and numerous seraphims and cherubims.
