20160424 Tas Devonport, Phillip Island to Cowe
20160424 Well no more history
or old stone buildings and dramatic weather change, what am I ever going to
talk about now as we head to Devonport to catch the Spirit of Tassie back to
the main land, but what an adventure we had in Tassie. Queued up while waiting to be loaded and many
people have their chairs set up and having a beer so as Des can’t drink any alcohol
when driving we opted to walked to the shop to kill some time and brought a
huge ice cream cone, probably not a wise move before boarding a ship.
I found this plant while
waiting to be loaded on the barge, everyone who walk by was fascinated by
the unusual fluff it produced, now that's different.
We found our cabin then headed to
the dining room for dinner and on our return we forgot our cabin number so back
up to reception. Down we go again only
this doesn’t look right as I open the door to a Chinese woman sitting on the
bed, nop this isn’t right so back to reception, she entered the wrong code on
our card, not good. We finally found our
room and settled in for a smooth trip across the Tasman.
25-04-2016 All big rigs get to leave
the ship first so we were up early waiting for the call to head to our vehicle.
We stopped for breaky at
this new aged petrol station and you won’t believe it Des and I had McDonald
for the first time in, I can’t remember the last time we ate this shit.
The view heading along the
straight towards Phillip Island.
Travelling along B420 highway
and noticed the signs to our next stop.
Passing through San Remo and the only link to Phillip Island is over the San Remo Bridge.
The old
Suspension Bridge built in 1940, she was sure a pretty bridge.
As we approach the GP Circuit
Des noticed bikes racing around the track so in we go hoping to get a look but
was swiftly told NO Entry, bugger.
You can’t beat us as we
pulled over up the road and peaked through the fence.
We then found a side street
where more cars were parked checking out the race and I got on top of the van
for a better photo.
You should be up here Des, arr,
that’s right he doesn’t like heights. Desie’s first time at Phillip Island and
he’s loving it although his mates have hassled him for years to do a bike trip
to Phillip Island but it’s too far he reckons, limp wrist Harley Rider, he!he!
Penguin Parade next and of
cause you have to be here as the sun sets but you can walk the grounds where
they all waddle in.
The unusual Cape Barren
Geese, the species is named for Cape Barren Island, where specimens were first
sighted by European explorers.

We forgot its Anzac Day and
we drove into Cowes right on 12pm as everyone was leaving, get me out of here.
The view from the
viewing circuit where we camped the night and Des got to watch the boring bikes
once more.
Role Reversal, this one's for you Hal, he!he!
