20240718 After a great night at the Mulgildie Hotel we left for Mundubbera stopping at Eldsvold for Des to stink the van out so I jumped out for some fresh air and took a photo of the the Pub after it’s been done up. With the air smelling a bit clear I hopped back in the van and off we go again stopping in Mundubbera to stretch our leg and walk the town then left.  Passed this vintage steam train when passing through Eldsvold The newly renovated Star Hotel Motel, the place to stop for a coldie if you ever pass through the town of Eldsvold. The road heading through Binjou The Binjour Water Tank Art is situated on the premises of the Binjour Bowling Club. Painted in April 2015, it offers a historical portrayal of the local town, featuring landmarks such as the post office, the church, and country estates. Driving over the Les Baker Bridge where below is the Burnett River Approaching Gaynda we stopped at the Big Orange for a coffee and a photo and brought some freshly picked mandarins the

20240717 We’re still trying to find a country pub to watch the State of Origin and there’s Mulgildie, but it only 11ks up the road and we were hoping to travel a bit further. Passing the Full Moon Mural we stopped to check out the Mulgildie Hotel that have free showers and the meals look ok plus they have a pot belly fire, what more do you need, this look like the country pub to watch the game.  We walked the town, or what there is of it and found these creatures waiting for us to play with them, this one was just the right size for killer. A horse is more my style, just take the bloody photo Des. Across the road stands The Mulgildie Bunyip Locals and Aboriginal Elders recount stories of garish monsters that live in local swamps and waterholes lies the legendary Bunyip Hole, renowned for its strange noises, bubbling, churning water and for disappearing livestock as they drank. Many Aboriginals and experienced drovers could not be convincĂ©d to camp near this location. Some Aboriginal El

20240714  Gee this is a big trip, just 22ks up the road we turned of onto the Goovigen Connection Rd for 6ks passing over Collide Creek then into the little town of Goovigen. We arrived at the camp only to find a caravan club has dominated all the power pointes, bugger. We parked and walked the town, which didn’t take us long, there really isn’t anything here and what is here is all closed down, even the pub, apparently this town took a real hit when Covid hit. Goovigen is a local Aboriginal  word for, box tree, a species of Eucalyptus. The Main Street with the Hotel on the corner but is unfortunately closed along with all the other stores. St Brigid's Catholic Church was officially opened in 7 April 1935, it was built from timber at a cost of £612. The corrugated iron Historical School of Arts Hall was built in 1929, a group of dedicated history lovers took up the challenge to save the site, turning it into the heritage heart of the town and a significant attraction for visitors.

20240714 The last time we were here was in 2014 for the footy finals when the Rabbitohs won NRL Grand Final to end a 43-year premiership drought by beating the Bulldogs 30-6, and what a game it was. At the time Peter and Sue were the publican and put on $3 drinks until the first try and $5 steak burgers, those were the days. Since then the pub has had a bit of a face lift and t here’s a new publicans that also adds some humour to your visit. On Sunday between 5 & 6pm when you order any drink, the bar staff throw a dice, your choose odds or even and if your choice is rolled, your drink is free, now that’s a game worth playing.  I will have odds please and the bar maid shakes the hell out of the dice. Yaa! The bar cheers as we win our first round of drinks for free. I had a photo on my phone of the publican from when we stayed in Jambin in 2014, I noticed a guy at the bar that look much like my photo so I walked over and showed him the photo, is this you I said,  yes he said, have yo
