20220802 Qld Talwood to Meandarra
We camped in the truck stop last night and were up early thanks to the many trucks parked beside us, what is it that they keep their truck running while they have a nap, It must cost them a fortune in fuel. After a quick cuppa we left travelling along the Moonie Tambo Hwy that passes many farms and cattle stations along the way, but my main concern is keeping my eye out for Roos, we are never on the road this early in the morning and to make matters worse the road is thick with fog.
Passing over the Joe Beach Bridge as we watch out for pot hole's and trucks coming from the other direction, we do not want to get off the road along here as there are some patches look much too wet.
The cattle take advantage of the cropped Sorgan in the paddocks as they feast away in the morning fog.
Well Talwood is just up the road and it's just after 8:30am and the fog is still thick.
And this is the results of three days of walking back and forth every three hours carrying his little green bucket and returning with it full each time, someones a happy chappy.
20220804 Des check the weather and rain is heading our way and we can't stay here because we will never be able to make it out in this soft dirt so here we go again as we head back along the Moonie Talwood Hwy only this time it's later and there's no fog.
Passing into the Western Down's around 10:50 am and the weather is looking good, but then again we are driving away from it.
In the passed ten years of travelling we have never witnessed this much water on our roads, hence why we are trying to avoid the rain.
This is a good example of the water laying along the edge of the road, this is what it's been like everywhere we go, they have had so much rain it just isn't soaking into the ground.
With the crops all harvested the land takes on another meaning as the cover crop takes over and turns the landscape into lush green fields, it's so picturesque.
This long straight road will eventuall leed you into Condamine, once we passed the interscetion at Westmar the road got worse as Des reduces speed, talk about a bumpy ride.
As we drove into Meandarra, a small town along the way we checked it out and decided this would be better staying here to see the the rain out, so Meandarra it is for a few days, or until the rain go'es.
