20220605 Qld Road Side Stop Wellesley

20220605 Leaving St George and about an hour up the road we spotted a road side stop with tables, shelter and toilets. Des was quick to turn around and park up for the night, then Wendy joined in behind us. One of our favourite spots to camp up for a night is in the middle of nowhere and on our own, let the party begin.

Our camp for the night and as always we take over the shelter.

Des pacing the grounds, up and down he goes, as he does.

Out comes the game and Wendy even managed to get Des to play, he doesn’t usually like playing games, well with me, especially in checkers, because I always bet him. Greed was the game and it has the letter’s G,R,E,E,D,$, the idea is to throw the dice and get as many points as possibly by throwing three of each, E, R, G or $ and four D’S and the first to 5000 wins, as usual Wendy’s wins.

The people you meet on the road and this was a classic. He stopped to let his dogs out for a run when he spotted Des and pulled up for a chat. 
I came out with a drink and this hillbilly voice said, now that’s what I need as he opens a can. Next he pulls out this large pipe and he pulls a long drag which he was more than happy for me to take a photo. Before he left he handed me a gift that I was more than happy to keep. This guy had Des and I in fits of laughter.
What ever it was it must have been funny as we watch the sun go down over Wellesley.

20240911 NSW Moonbi Lookout to Walcha, Aratula to Home

20240911 On our way towards Tamworth, we heard there rain heading our way so our aim is to park at the lookout in Moonbi that has solid ground. The wood has been stripped around the camp site so I walked deeper into the bush and returned with a bag, there’s no stopping me when it comes to my fires. Des prepared dinner while I set up the fire, we had dinner then sat around my nice fire while sitting under the nights stars and enjoying a few ales. We had a new camper turn up today and camped just in front of us with his little Jack Russell Dog who came for a visit and took a liking to Des. The Moonbi Lookout, Perched on a huge granite outcrop at an elevation of 754m (2,473ft) above the sea level. The View overlooking the valley below, stunning. The Moonbi Lookout is off the New England highway then follow the Lookout Road to the car park at the top where there is plenty of room for overnight parking. 20250408 It’s still the same day as we continue our walk along the streets of Madrid, the main homes are units, mainly because i t has almost 3.5 million  inhabitants and a metropolitan area  population of approximately 7 million. Madrid  began in the 9th century with the founding of a fortress named "Mayrit" by the Emir Muhammad of Córdoba, the city flourished under Arab rule but was later reconquered by Christians when it became part of the Kingdom of Castile. In 1561, Madrid was officially made the capital of Spain by King Philip III. C heck out these buildings they are so beautiful and unique and I did notice there are no cloths lines hanging outside, but don’t be deceived there’s a lot of little nooks and crannies hidden out the back of these buildings.
