20200714 Qld Longreach & Last Night at Lara
20200714 Poor BJ, Jodie’s Blue Healer isn’t well so we piled her in the car for a trip to the Vets in Longreach. Haven to spend the night for test, Jodie and I booked into one of her friends Motel for the night and she was lucky enough to catch with an old friend who was back in town.
We settle in to our rooms and out come the wine, let the night begin.
After a couple of wines we decided to visit a friend of Jodie’s so off we trot down the road, had a chat then returned, only I couldn’t find my key to the unit so we retraced our steps, it has a green Key holder so we should see it I said, then Jodie threw her keys on the road, there my keys I said, no there not said Jodie, oops 😬 so mine are on the table back at the unit. Well! If only you could see the look on our face as we laughed all the way home with Jodie calling me a few choose name.
Jodie’s friend Marie was back in town and staying in the same Motel so we all went out to the local Indian Restaurant with a nice bottle of wine and enjoyed a lovely meal then we carried on back at the unit with Marie joining us for many a laughs.
I want to stay here it looks like a fun Hotel.
Stopping into the local caravan park to drop off some pamphlets when I spotted the old truck as we leave.
Jodie stops at Michael's grave site on our way home from Longreach, it's been over six years since we lost a great friend and partner in Micheal and he is still sadly missed.
This was my first time visiting Michael's resting place, his wish, if anything ever happened was to never be put to rest in a cemetery, so here he rest on a property not far from Lara Wetlands were the cattle pass him by, I couldn't think of a more appropriate resting place for a man of the land.
Well done Jod, what an impressive grave site.
We head back to the car and check out B.J, she decided to take over the front seat, she's certainly feeling better the cheeky bugger.
The entrance to Lara Wetlands, you don't need to book just Roll On In.
Ross gives me a huge and I mean huge going away surprised, is that for me or Des then Woodsie tries to look taller than us as he stands on a step but Ellen takes it over .
Part of the crew from Lara who play an important roll in helping Jod keep Lara running and don't worry they know how to enjoy a few coldies in the afternoon. The old fart in the middle is Ross, Desie's partner in crime, he drives the tractor to smooth the road into Lara while Des waters it down, then Woodsie repairs the truck after Des has crunched the gears up and down the road, opps, there goes another cog. Ellen prepares the morning tea for the tour of the old homestead and with the help of her partner Ross they upkeep the ablution blokes.
Arrest that woman Des said, she stole my power, poor Marie will never live it down after unplugging our lead to the van and flattened our batteries. Des then put a sign up saying: Do Not Switch off, Park Ranger.Check out that cheeky grin on our Bec, those pare are defiantly up to something. Bec and her spunky Hubby, Pete manage the bush camp, so don't be stupid, it's not hard to follow a few simple rules and for god sake DO NOT throw petrol onto a fire like some twit did.
Pete and the guy with his eye's shut is his brother Col, now be wary of this pair, they are always up to mischief, you mark my word.
Unfortunately this is our last night at Lara, our time here is always special when catching up with old friends and making new friends but our Jod never stops and needs a break so the station is up for sale and possibly be sold.
lovely memories xx
