20180419 VIC Mt Noorat to Panmure

20180419 We left Terang today with a heavy heart but like they say all good things must come to an end and we were told to check out Mount Noorat in Noorat and after huffing and puffing up the steep hill while keeping our eyes wide open for snakes we finally made it to the top.

First we pose for a photo but Des decided to try something different, yep that works, not.
👅
Mount Noorat is a green volcanic cone rising to 313 metres above sea level and was once a meeting and trading place for the aborigines who exchanged stones, spears, skins and other material.
If Des would turn around he would see this view, silly man.
Noorat was the birthplace of author Alan Marshall who autobiography “I Can Jump Puddles” is the story of his childhood, a happy world despite his battle with polio at the age of 6 years old.
Alan and his mates often explored Mt Noorat and on one occasion they went to the bottom, Alan began crawling up the slope but the weight is thrown on his already inflamed and tender keens, I had to struggle with each yard and I quickly tired and I had to rest every few yards, the crater is 400 metres wide by 159 metres deep but he wasn't going to miss out exploring with his mates.

Mt Noorat Hotel was built in 1909 and she sits at the foot of the lush green countryside at the foot of a dormant volcano, Mt Noorat

Stopping for lunch at the Panmure Hotel and it was bloody freezing in side  even with the fire place going.

Check this out Scotty and this isn't the only one there are also milk crates full of them.

Stuff this I'm going out the back in the sun, arr that's much better plus I can gaze at the lovely garden while I pig  out.

Look what I found a little tea room out the back decorated with many different ornaments and an amazing collection of Tea Pot.

The publican is a lovely lady who is quite the collector and the ladies from around the area get lots of use from their new Tea Room.

This is just some of her Tea Pot collection, pretty cool I think.
