20180323 VIC Girgarre, Newstead to Ballarat
20180323 There’s certainly not
much to tell about Girgarre, Des and I went in search of a pub and there wasn’t
one, now that’s a first, a town with no pub.
The supermarket is closed
down but there is a Post Office that sells the basic needs.
The Giant Theremin
How to Play the Giant
Theremin Step inside the activation Zone in front of the Theremin and listen to
your movements create a sound.
Experiment with moving in different direction, at different speeds and
in different shapes. It can be played by
up to 8 people at any one time with each player having their own unique
instrument, sound or effect, pity it didn’t work.
The batteries in the van don’t seem to be holding there charge so we stop just before Bendigo to have them checked and the news isn’t good so we are sent to a battery joint for a further diagnosis and yep there stuffed.
Des talked up a storm
waiting for the new batteries to be installed while I checked out the spunk and
his cool van next to us, well his arse at least.

Thirteen hundred dollars later we are back on the road leaving for historical Maldon, walking down the street Des said we’ve been here before, no that was Tassie but then we walked passed a bar, we sat in there and had a drink Des said, Jesus we have to, I really need to check my blog for places we’ve been.
The old News Paper Display’s
in Historical Maldon they certainly play the part in this old town.
LOST DOG
3 LEGS, BLIND IN ONE
EYE, MISSING ONE EAR, TAIL BROKEN, RECENTLY CASTRATED… AN’SWERS TO THE NAME OF “LUCKY”
🤣
🤣
We defiantly haven’t been to Newstead, we pull up across the road from the pub, what better place to park, off we toddle to check out the menu, boring pizza night so we opted for a couple of drinks instead.
The Railway Hotel, they only had one cold XXXX and some other shit beer they brew up
the road and guess who owns the pub, the guy who brews the beer of course.
24-03-2018 We woke with a sprinkle of rain so we quickly moved to solid ground finding an unused bitumen road where we hopped back into bed for a cosy day of reading and watching TV, we just love days like this.
With the rain easing we strolled
to town but its Saturday and nothing’s open, not that there’s many shops to open
so back to the van for some more relaxation.
Another storm is rolling in
and the sky dances with a flashing lights display and every time I tried to
snap one it would shoot off in a new direction, I give up.
25-03-2018 With the rain gone it’s time to move on plus Des needs more beer and there’s a Dan Murphy’s in Ballarat.
Nothing
but wide open space in the middle of nowhere, it kind of calming.
A fly by shoot as we pass
through Smeaton.
Back in the old days these
town’s had churches popping up all over the town, now they are being sold as
homes, I can just see Des and I living in a Christian house with our fowl
mouths.
We found Dan Murphy's and for some reason, in there stupid wisdom, have decided not to carry cans in HAHAN Premium Light or XXXX any more, not happy Jan.
After we eventually find a
bottle shop we head to Haden to camp passing
The Avenue of Honour Arch
Grieving Mother
The statue stands as
a memorial to the mothers and families at home who experienced the grief and
deep anxiety that is the consequence of war, irrespective of the colour or
style of the uniform being worn at the battle front.
