20160403 Vic Orbost, Marlo to Bambalo
20160403 Des had been saying
all around Tassie how he wanted to have a go at milking cows but it just hasn’t
happen until now. We camped at Orbost and
walked the street and bugger me dead we walked smack bang into a Dairy Farm so we
pocked our heads in and spoke to the owner, I’ve always wanted to have a go at
milking cows would you mind if I came and gave you a hand, sure mate but be
prepared to get shit on.
Well! Talk about shit on,
the first cow got him a beauty, right on top of his head and down his back and
I couldn’t stop laughing, Des was not impressed.
Arr, it’s only grass said Geoff
the owner, he!he.
I'm such a bitch every time
I look at Des I cracked up laughing.
The girl’s line up for their
daily milking and this is a small dairy of 120 cows compared to others.
I must say this is one job I
wouldn’t care to do, the cows get milked morning and afternoon producing an
average of 14 litres a day per cow which is 1,680 litres every day, wow that
impressive.
After the milking was completed Geoff gave us some fresh farm milk and a bag of fresh Flathead he just caught, yummy.
On go’s the heater, now he waits for the water to heat as he stands outside in the cold with cow shit over him. You could swim in the Snowy River Des, sure, that's not gunna happen.
The old railway bridge in Orbost.
02-05-2016 After scrubbing the cow shit from Desies
shirt we stopped in to say goodbye to Geoff and gave him a beer cooler from the
Grand View Hotel which Geoff thought we owned, god no, we would be alcoholics if
we owned a pub, we’re bad enough as it is.

03-05-2016 Driving along the
Monaro Highway along the Great Dividing Range we cross the border into N.S.W and
the Snowy Mountain Region.
The town of Bombala meaning “Meeting
of the Water” as it lies on the Bombala River and in 1903 was proposed as the
site of the Parliamentary seat of Australia because it was half way between
Sydney and Melbourne.

Now that's different, some people are so artistic.
An interesting bit of
sculpture.
Look out Des
